The movie involves an odd, ill-matched team of jewel thieves led by Tom Georgeson, a thief who is locked up in prison along with the secret of the jewels. On the outside, Palin, Kline and Curtis plot with and against each other, and a great deal depends on Curtis' attempts to seduce several key defense secrets out of Cleese. Among one hilarious sequence after another, Wanda is the key role, a beautiful, sexy and triky woman, who shifts between these men, just like a fish . And the funniest part is that, a character played by Kevin Kline is very particular about one thing: "Don't you ever call me stupid!" He is then inevitably called stupid on a number of occasions, leading to the payoff when his girlfriend explains to him in great detail why and how he is stupid and lists some of the stupid things he believes ("The London Underground is not a political movement".
I think it is the great and overwhelming passions that make the movie successful.See, that is what comedies do.When Ken (played by Michael Palin) was trying to murder an old woman who is a witness harmful to them.He failed three times but succeeded in killing her three dogs which made Ken quite guilty ,as he is an animal lovers and he is desperately in love with a tank of tropical fish(there is one called Wanda among them). And Wanda fell in love with Archie ,which was meant to be a trick.Well, in the end ,there is a happy ending, they got married and had 17 babies (sounds incredible).
A good comedy to see!
