Just finished watching "The New Mutants" and the casting is so good that I doubt Marvel Studios could have picked a better cast than this. It's just that the story is not saved. After two years of repairing it, it still doesn't tell the story well.
The timeline is probably: "First Battle" → "Reversing the Future" → "Apocalypse" → "Dark Phoenix" → "Wolf 3" → "New Change", that is, in 2029, the X-Men were disbanded, just new mutants Don't know yet.
The story is very simple. The five protagonists of the hospital complete the transformation of self-growth by overcoming their inner demons, eliminating the fear of their own abilities, and bravely facing the future life.
Let me talk about it first, what are the demons in the heart: the cannon collapses the mine tunnel, trapping the father to death; the sunspot burns the first love girlfriend to death; the identity of the wolf poison is exposed, and he is abused by the priest; Haunted; Moonstar's fear creates a demonic bear that accidentally hurts a loved one.
These inner demons are very clearly explained, but the director did not tell how the five people overcome their own inner demons, and finally slammed a super power battle, and the whole film was over.
It is conceivable that "The New Mutants" will have a lot of negative reviews, but I still want to say a few words for this movie.
It can be seen that the director of this film should be an X-Men fan. From the casting to the character design, the comics are basically restored, especially the secret, the actors are absolutely selected!
I can feel that the director cherishes and respects these comic characters. In contrast, the director of "Dark Phoenix" is a representative of no heart.
But sometimes it is too reductive, and it is often not easy to make a good movie.
In order to make movies easier for themselves, many directors often magically change comic characters.
It's not uncommon for directors like Marvel Studios to change the Scarlet Witch to Jean Grey and incorporate Mockingbird into Black Widow.
It can only be said that the director is too honest, if not for the reason for this rotten film, it seems to be from the stubbornness of a comic fan, but it is a bit distressing, four stars give one star for understanding.
