"Flying to the Moon" is more meaningful than "Nezha"

"Flying to the Moon" is the kind of conventional fairy tale writing, such as "Spirited Away", "Alice in Wonderland", etc. Of course, there are also sci-fi elements in it, although it has a typical folk science color, that is Online shopping for parts to build a maglev spacecraft to the moon. But once it comes to the life scene in a small town, everything will slow down, become traditional, make moon cakes, eat at a round table... These are unshakable habits, even in an animation that combines science fiction and fairy tales. The protagonist was angry to the moon because her father wanted to remarry, and her actions did not receive the slightest attention and opposition from the people around her, except of course that the son of the prospective stepmother became a smuggler. Fairy tales do not mean that humans and animals are harmless, and sometimes they can be cruel and even bloody, and there are almost no bad characters in stories like "Flying to the Moon", except for the chickens driving the cars. What the protagonist wants to save is not an imminent disaster, but his father's marriage. After that, what changed was not others and the world, but herself. If it weren't for those nice songs, this story might have been harder to round up like a mooncake. However, I really like the design of the moon cake wizard, at least it echoes the theme, and it can be seen that at least the main creator is trying to organically combine various elements. The box office and word of mouth of this film should be miserable, but if you compare it with "Nezha", I still feel that this film is completely better than "Nezha" in most aspects. Although it seems too stable because of many factors, it at least has a healthy mentality, rather than the kind of resistance that shouts empty slogans. A group without a sense of humor is easy to be offended and become aggressive. I don’t know if Oriental DreamWorks will have follow-up attempts after these failures, or what adjustments will be made. The previous American DreamWorks animation was characterized by subversion, and this kind of pungency is not seen in the works of Oriental DreamWorks. In any case, this kind of animation, although it failed, at least showed a desire for integration, and even a kind of respect for "do as the locals do". And I always believe that many of the advantages of American animation will continue to develop and carry forward, and it is impossible for Hong Kong films to gradually lose their own color after poor integration and ineffectiveness.
