A movie that could have been more perfect

The name "The Immortal Gardener" is very strange, because there are not too many brush strokes in the film to describe the story of Justin as a gardener, so I feel that the Chinese translation of the name has a lot less profound meaning than the original English meaning. Commercialized political films and romance films, although they are not as powerful as they were when they were nominated for N awards.

In general, seeing Ralph Fiennes' superb performance again after nearly 5 years after "The British Patient" is really an unexpected gluttony for me. Ralph is a born actor, his every A trace of nerve endings are all born for performance. It is true that in this work with limited depth, Ralph's leeway is extremely limited, but he can't forget the love and grief in his eyes when the facial features are close-up, which is very deep. Maybe only Ralph can play the role of Justin with this kind of three-pointer feeling.

The theme of the film is still superficial and superficial. Neither the line of love nor the line of political fraternity can make people sigh like the "British Patient", or even to say that the line of love has been buried for too long, and finally broke out. The audience is tired, so it is estimated that it is difficult to have a tear-jerking effect; while the politicization line evades the emphasis and shifts the spearhead to simple commercial interests, completely neglecting the discovery of the fragility and resistance of human nature. This should have been the theme. It's shining, so to put it bluntly, it is a director's work that is not ideal and a bit off-topic.

Nevertheless, this film is still one of the best works not to be missed in 2005. At least listening to the singing of the African land and seeing the red heavenly crane light dance, I was completely moved. It's just that sometimes, the criticism is because I hope that such a film that could have been more perfect has not reached the height it should be.
