In this world, which is almost indistinguishable from our society, greedy and complicated law enforcement agencies are intrigued; friends are betrayed and revenge for their own interests; tragic men and women lead with trauma to inevitable destruction. Mamoru Oshii combines these three stories with extremely delicate images, and the final work is a beautiful and bleak historical fable.
Fascism is inherently contrary to human nature. From the moment you put on that dashing uniform, it and your actions will follow you for the rest of your life, eating away and weathering your heart. Even if you realize it, it's already too late. When the human skin is taken off, you have nowhere to escape, but continue to walk among the beasts.
