Therefore, the market reaction is sluggish because everyone does not understand it, not because it is not good. The themes expressed in many cultural works are closely related to their surroundings and historical moments. And a lot of movies also imply something pretty deep that an audience sitting in a movie theater nibbling on popcorn for an hour or two won't savor, let alone notice. For example, "The Chronicles of Narnia" is a story about Jesus, and "The Lord of the Rings" is a metaphor for the political structure of several continents in the world. Since "crash" I've watched a lot of non-mainstream non-blockbuster Hollywood movies, and I don't think it's fair to assume that all Hollywood movies are superficial money-making machines.
Of course, the best movies are those that can be accepted by the public and that can profoundly reflect reality or some truth. "Fun with Dick and Jane" is a very good one. Although it is a new film from an old film, it is quite thought-provoking for its adaptation and release in this era. At the end of the movie, Dick and his neighbors are driving with these two lines of dialogue:
Neighbor: "Do you like my new tires?"
Dick: "That's good"
Neighbor: "Because I've joined a new company, they The treatment is great.” The
neighbor finally said: “This company is engaged in energy, and its name is Enron.”
Enron, the American Enron Energy Company, is the representative company of the notorious American corporate false accounting scandal. As this movie reflects, thousands of innocent employees are left homeless and left with nothing because of the collapse of the company, while the chief executive officer, the chief financial officer, who is the culprit, either gets away with impunity or has an impossibly light sentence.
This sentence should wake up the most mentally handicapped and confused audience, what exactly is this movie about.
What a good comedy, because it makes me happy, but sad in my heart, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. This is the second comedy movie that has made me feel this way since Journey to the West. Hereby vindicated for it, and for Hollywood at the same time.
