I haven't watched a movie for a long time. I watched this afternoon while I had nothing to do, the second personal favorite war movie "Greyhound" after "1917". The story of how the USS destroyer led 37 incompetent merchant ships against the attack of the Nazi U-boat wolves, across the Atlantic to England to transport supplies to the front line in the absence of air support.
The line at the beginning of the movie, "Go to hell with torpedoes, we're going full speed ahead" established the fast-paced tone of the whole movie. To be honest, the battle scenes are not as exciting and intense as other war movies, but they can bring people a suffocating atmosphere. Tension until the end of the movie.
The protagonist played by Tom Hanks, as the captain of the Greyhound, spent the Christmas before his departure with his beloved woman before the mission. What he said was how many soldiers on the battlefield wanted to love their beloved love expressed by people. No matter where you are, I hope you have someone behind you who loves you waiting for you to come home.
The wolf head on the German Nazi submarine represents the wolves who want to slaughter the sheep, and the Greyhound, as the shepherd and patron saint of the sheep, I think it really did its job. The clues throughout the film are Two, one is the meal prepared for the captain at a fixed time, and the other is the Bible that the captain will read in an emergency. There is a shot in the middle that shows a strong contrast. Above the clouds is the beautiful aurora that attracts infinite reverie, while below the clouds are the cries of artillery fire and the sound of explosions. This battle seems to be an intrigue between the two armies, but it is actually hidden. The mystery is tit for tat.
In the end, it was a miracle that the hounds defeated the wolves. It was the first time that the captain was able to complete the mission so well across the Atlantic Ocean.
I am very grateful to have such a group of people who forged ahead for us in that era. I hope our world can have less cold wars and less wars. Because of the war, there are no winners.
