First time writing a review, sorry.
The whole movie tells the story of the two male protagonists from a one-night stand, to falling in love, to parting. It seems simple and plain, but it can bring the most heart-wrenching sentimentality in the details. Because he is the epitome of life, he happens around us and makes us feel the same way. If the Chinese title of the film is translated as "Two Days and Two Nights" or "Love Is Parting" maybe it would be more appropriate.
1. Story Explanation:
Friday: At night, Russel went to the gay bar to find 419, met Glen in love at first sight and followed him to the toilet, took Glen home, and was speechless all night;
Saturday: Russel brews coffee for Glen in the morning, records some views on sex and gays at Glen's request, and Glen leaves. Russel texted Glen at work, Glen came to pick Russel, and the two rode a bike home, discussing topics such as gays, sex, worldliness, straight men, and disagreements. When they parted after the plane, Glen told Russel to go to the United States to study and invited him to participate in the parting part in the evening; in the evening, Russel happily went there and learned about Glen's past and life under the advice of Glen's friends. The two went to the amusement park to play around. Go home, continue to discuss topics such as gays, sex, secularism, straight men, worldview, etc., disagree with each other, and fall asleep after sex;
Sunday: In the morning, the two began to talk about the world, family, parents, coming out, freedom and other topics. After parting, Russel participated in a colleague's Part and missed Glen very much. They went to the station to send Glen off. The two embraced and cried. Before Glen left, he would Russel recordings remain. Russel came home and stood alone by the window, listening to the recording: Just start from the beginning when you saw me.
The movie is over.
2. Thinking:
1. Can people with different outlook on life, values and world outlook be together?
The two protagonists are two completely different people. Russel is out of the closet but is very conservative (deep closet), has low self-esteem, is afraid to talk about his feelings with friends, and does not like to show intimacy in public. Glen, on the contrary, is more of an activist, saying fuck off to those making homophobic comments and threatening to "fucking rape your holes". In each conversation, the two exchanged different views with each other, and they also changed in each exchange. So much so that Russel was able to take the initiative to kiss Glen and hug at the end of the farewell at the station. When I heard the passers-by: fucking gay boys, I would be angry. These bold and outrageous actions are Russel's true feelings. In the end, Glen left, and Russel was left in tears.
In the film, Russel and Glen live in two different ways, but they are both looking for the same thing, which is their place in the world. They try to find themselves and their needs, and how to define themselves in private or in public.
If Glen hadn't left, could the two live together for a long time?
2. In reality, how do we view our family acceptance, social vision, dating and lifelong partner?
The two were in bed on Sunday morning when Russel said he had never had a parent who could come out, so Glen pretended to be Russel's father and asked Russell to come out to him. In a very warm passage, Russel felt the approval from his family that he had never had before; Glen's outlook on life was not recognized by Russel and the regrets buried by him were finally relieved. It was a delight to meet you, each projecting this emotion onto each other and finally sublimating into love.
And what about us in China? Some never get married for life, some get married, some choose to come out of the closet, and at the same time they have to face the AIDS fear lurking in the depths. We are constantly struggling with ourselves and accepting ourselves; we are constantly dealing with family and society. Some people want to pretend to be packaging, both sides, and they may end up being embattled on all sides; some choose to stay away from escaping and stay on their own, which may end in bleak; Feeling burnt out, thinking that it is easy to navigate the pink and pink bushes and play every night, and finally end up alone and grow old.
3. Conclusion:
Director Andrew once said, "I want to tell an honest, intimate and true love story that expresses the coexistence of fear and excitement in the face of new things, new opportunities. The essence of this film is that two people fall in love. It doesn't really matter if you're gay or not."
It has been 9 years since the film was released. Times have changed, and society has become more and more enlightened. I believe that we live under the same blue sky and white clouds, so why distinguish between red, yellow, blue and green? Any color will be accommodated. The most touching thing about love is that they have each other and blend in with each other at the moment; the most fascinating thing about love is that they are in love but cannot stay together.
If you ask me, where does love begin? Just start from the beginning when you saw me.
