On the docks of New York Harbor, underworld forces headed by Johnny relentlessly oppressed the dockworkers. Terry (Marlon Brando), a former boxer, came to the dock to work for Johnny. His friend Joey was pushed from the roof by his subordinate, Terry's brother Charlie, for exposing the crimes of Johnny and others to the Crime Commission. Joey's sister Edie (Eva Marie Saint) vows revenge for her brother and launches an investigation with the parish priest, Father Barry. No one in the know dared to come forward. Terry also witnessed the murder of Joey. Although he sympathized with Edie's experience and wanted to help her escape the persecution of the underworld, he did not report his brother's crimes. In the contact with Edie, the two gradually developed feelings. When Edie learns that he was an accomplice in the killing of her brother, she rejects him. Later, his brother was killed by Johnny in order to save Terry. Numerous sinful events make Terry determined to expose Johnny's crimes. On the dock, he was seriously injured by Johnny's men. The priest and Edie came to support him. The dock workers who had been silent also awakened. They united and fought for justice... Recommended reason: "Dock" It reflects the struggle of various forces in the New York docks in the early 1950s, and tells the story of the dock worker Terry being able to stand up to testify against the crimes of exploiting and maiming workers at the top of the trade union. The Dock was the best picture of the 1954 Oscars, and Marlon Brando's performance was also very good. Netizens commented: One film actually nominated three Oscars for supporting actors!
