The first time I watched "Legion of the Living Dead", I just thought it was a well-deserved zombie movie. Although it is far from the amazingness of "Dawn of the Living Dead" and "I Am Legend", but you and me fail, I I can only say that I am afraid your tinted glasses are too heavy. After all, the elements that a qualified zombie film should have, this movie does not pull any of them, and none of them are hip-pulling. Whether it's action scenes, plasma explosions, or screen explosions, they can all be said to be top-notch in the industry. At least I can't find one that is really much better than this movie.
To say that the flaw is that the plot is far from excellent, especially since this movie is still a group portrait, almost all the characters are not portrayed as well. The long plot in the early stage has seriously affected the rhythm of this "cool film". The key to the previous plot is that the character shaping is very superficial. It is better to concentrate on only portraying one or two main characters.
But zombie films, what do you want so many perfect character depictions! Others I don’t know, my original intention of watching this movie is the word "cool". Overall, this film still meets my needs. Intense action scenes, thoughtful zombie content, all kinds of explosive plasma... it's still very cool.
However, recently I did not have anything to do with the "Legion of the Living Dead" again, and suddenly found that the first part seemed to have missed a lot of content: Zach has always been very stylized shots, I have always been very worthy of appreciation (of course some too stylized , I can’t accept it); Zach’s movie seems very ambitious, and it seems that he didn’t plan to talk about everything with this movie from the beginning; some very inexplicable lines appeared abruptly, making people unclear. .
However, as soon as I contacted the movie and the follow-up content, I would suddenly find that it is very interesting. Obviously, Zach wants to create another zombie movie universe outside of the Warner DC movie universe, the monster universe and the Marvel movie universe. Moreover, this idea seems to be recognized and fully supported by Netflix.
Let’s say nothing about 580 million, that is, RMB is not US dollars, and the cost of US$90 million has not been the first-line blockbuster in Hollywood in recent years. To cite a few simplest examples, the cost of "Fast and Furious 9" released in the same period is 5 to 8 billion US dollars, the old club Warner's "King Kong vs. Godzilla", and Sony Marvel's "Spider-Man: The cost of "Return of Heroes" is also around 200 million U.S. dollars, even the 2007 "I Am Legend" has 150 million U.S. dollars.
My point of view is: "Legion of the Living Dead" is a fairly satisfactory and above-the-standard zombie film, but if it is the opening of the zombie universe, if the follow-up works are strong, then although the gods are not expected, reaching 8 points is not Difficult.
In 2021, we will start a zombie movie universe with $90 million. As long as the layout is successful, we don’t want the movie to be excellent all the time, and it’s not a loss-making business (refer to Warner Monster Universe). The Marvel Cinematic Universe, "Iron Man" and "Invincible Hulk" all spent $150 million, Warner DC Universe "Superman: Man of Steel" $225 million, and Warner Monster Universe "Godzilla" $160 million.
