"Like Disney"

It's three and a half stars, but it's still recommended to watch, so I'll add half a star, and by the way, a few words about the impression.

Evaluation should be placed in a system.

If placed in a Disney princess film, it is considered average. Because of my daughter, I also went to Disneyland and watched some princess movies. This film is not as good as "Frozen 1", a little better than Miss Watson's "Beauty and the Beast" three years ago, and about the same as "Aladdin".

Just like Miss Watsons, Liu Yifei is a beautiful woman with a princess vibe, but when she started to become popular, I stopped watching martial arts dramas, so I didn't feel the dynamic beauty on her screen. I showed it in this episode, it's from a movie bonus. I know she also sings, and she can't sing very well. I was worried that Disney would make this film into a musical and let her sing, but after watching it, I found out that she didn't. She just put a Chinese song she sang after the English song at the end of the film. . Princess movies always have emotional scenes, this one was handled relatively lightly, so they finally shook hands, and it was the father who hugged Mulan, not the boyfriend.

If it is a kung fu movie, the movie is very general. I started from Jet Li's "Shaolin Temple" and watched kung fu movies for more than 20 years, so even if the foreigners liked Ang Lee's "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" so much, I still thought it would not work, because at that time the best kung fu movie in my mind was "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". The Swordsman 2: The Undefeated of the East" and "Knife".

At that time, Yu Suqiu's father was Daomadan. She played the white lady in the movie and kicked twelve tassel spears. Swordsman is a famous character. If you have seen Jet Li's "Shaolin Temple", you will know that this Mulan cantilevered two wooden barrels. Her emperor did exactly the same job when he was a monk. If you are an American, you will still feel fresh about Mulan's action scenes. After all, the last Kung Fu movie that was a blockbuster and was released on a large scale in the United States was Zhang Yimou's "Hero". The last time a Hollywood blockbuster played Chinese stick skills was "Hacker" Keanu Reeves in Empire 2, both happened seventeen or eighteen years ago.

If you count it in a spectacle movie, it's okay, and many of this spectacle come from Chinese elements, including tulou and matchmakers, as well as kung fu and temperament. If you get used to these things, it will detract from the spectacle experience. If you think that it is deliberately distorted by foreigners with ulterior motives, you may give one star angrily. Disney itself still wants to take everything from China and the United States, to please both sides, to give a small example:

At the end of the film, the word "filial piety" was cast on the sword that the emperor gave to Mulan, which made me a little happy. My girl likes to argue with me and mock me. One day I looked up to the sky and sighed: "In China, the most important thing is filial piety (filial piety), which is the unconditional obedience of children to their parents. Do you know the word filial?" She replied Said: "Of course I know, but no one uses the word filial now, and you are in the United States, and you expect your children to obey unconditionally?" As a result, the film translated this "filial piety" into devoted to family, and translated traditional Chinese culture into American suburban middle-class values.

The perception of ordinary American audiences, I translated a reader comment in the "New York Times":

"It's nice to see a little diversity and show us the myths of other cultures. Our repertoire is basically race-centric, think like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Game of Thrones "Fantasy movies like this, dealing with European genres of knights, legends and dragons. It's really cool that [this movie] exposes us to millennia of myths and stories from other cultures. Kudos to Disney on this one. (Great to see some diversity and to be exposed to other cultures' mythologies. Our slate of shows are largely ethnocentric. Think of fantasy movies like LotR and Harry Potter and Game of Thrones that involve European type knights, legends and dragons. It's really cool that we get exposed to thousand year old mythologies and stories from other cultures. Bravo to Disney in this one.)”

(70/100) Neat, smooth and qualified commercial film. High-quality existence in Disney princess movies. Liu Yifei's performance is no problem, the action scene is wonderful, the picture quality is first-rate, and the title design when the subtitles appear at the end of the movie is super beautiful. The Chinese princess Mulan did not disappoint.

Let’s talk about the conclusion first: the shell is a Chinese shell, the soul is still that of a foreigner, the shape is a Japanese geisha, and the core is the old American superheroism. In short, foreign countries have a one-sided understanding of China. . . . . . . It's very uncomfortable to watch, the movie is still obviously Disney style. I can understand that Disney wants to highlight the heroic female character of Mulan, but if the spirit is to belittle China and women as a foil, then I refuse! The whole is quite limited, from the inexplicable role of Gong Li as a witch, to the team of several people who just trained to save the country and the emperor, and then to the strange idea that women are honored with three obediences and four virtues and marrying people. A mix of cultures and styles. The film obviously does not understand Chinese culture and the spirit of Mulan. Probably the words on the sword can best express the spirit of Hua Mulan from beginning to end.
