The most Lynch-like in a Lynch movie.
The most moral of the dream trilogy.
The most hard-core audio-visual language level.
One of my favorite Lynch movies.
Interesting points unearthed by n brush:
Fred goes into the dark and disappears, and Fred comes out of the dark: when you stare into the abyss, the abyss also stares into you.
Jack Nance's last shot: The last shot of Lynch's acting career from the rubber head to Lost Highway in 1996 is the only shot in the film, and the effect with the jazz avant-garde is absolutely stunning.
Parenthood: Pete's parents' descriptions are highly refined. When he went to the prison to deliver Pete, his sense of presence exploded. After returning home, his sense of presence was suddenly cleared, and he became an actual "guardian". In the last shot, the light like It was Pete who opened a box that had been sealed for a long time and negotiated with the parents in the room. After the protection of the parents was removed, Pete faced this world full of danger and sin.
