Patrick Bateman, this elegant person who looks glamorous from the outside is him, no, it is the MODEL that most of us are looking for. Patrick, young and handsome, not only that, he is the financial elite of Wall st. He lives in a high-end residence in Mahattan. He cherishes his face and body like a woman. He exercises regularly, does SPA regularly, and even does it every morning when he gets up. 10 minutes of FACIAL. He graduated from Harvard Business School and has a fiancee who graduated from CONRNELL. Everything looks perfect and makes people jealous. All he has is nothing more than the material and value goals pursued by young people. But when this material and value goal was almost perfectly realized on the 27-year-old young man, his heart began to undergo a peculiar change.
They, a group of financial elites or brothers, seriously compare who can set a position in DOSIA and whose business card is more exquisite. These inexplicable actions are simply quirks in the eyes of ordinary people. Of course, Patrick also cares about national affairs. He eloquently talked about the need to eliminate wars, fight for peace, care about famine and the poor, and reduce the material desires of the younger generation. But in the night when he turned around, he used money to lure the homeless people, and then, taking advantage of their desire for money, he angrily killed them. He used his identity and status to satirize the value goal of this society in a perverted way. He knows that people admire or are easily tempted by money, material and rights, and he knows how to seduce them in front of those who need to raise their heads to look at him. Facing the prostitute Christin, he repeatedly used money to lure her into the car on the side of the road. Christin's initial hesitation almost hinted at the fate of being killed. If he is perverted because he cannot tolerate poverty, I would rather understand it as his denial of self-worth or a mockery of social values.
He kills quickly and sharply, and even has a taste of art. For every bloody murder, he uses fierce rock-like backgrounds. He elaborated on the background and content of each album. The kind of narrative that seems to be talking to oneself, seemingly knowledgeable and noble, is doing things that everyone despise. I would like to think that Patrick had the intention of wanting to control, he gave up killing his secretary. However, the situation is increasingly lacking in control. He started killing more and more innocent people, models, old people, janitors, and even kittens on the side of the road. The runaway climax finally ended when he fled back to the office of the P&P investment company. There are tears and sweat on his face, his face is twisted, crying or WHATEVER, calling his lawyer. Is he seeking solutions or atonement. Knowing from ignorance. What is shocking is that this series of murders should have been solved easily, but they have not been solved. Even the lawyers who were confessed by him repeatedly denied it. There are many very vague and uncertain plots in the film. It seems that this series of murders are all his fantasy. Well, if this is just fantasy, then only Patrick is schizophrenic, but if this is true, then everyone and even the society’s actions towards Patrick are social schizophrenia.
The horror or violence in this film is not terrible in itself. The terrible thing is that he told a state, and this state is likely to become a fact of this society.
Look at the story from the director, a good work. The most prominent is Christian Bale's performance. His rich and vivid facial expressions just right show Patrick's out-of-control psychology.
