A Year in Finland: My Life as a Postman

The plot of the movie is very concise, it just tells you how Christmas came to be, so the plot is not the most impressive to me, what I like most are some of the highlights. This all happened after Jesper (the 1st man) came to the island and met Klaus (the 2nd man). The plot that started here was light and warm, and some of the scenes were very pleasant and warm.

No.1

I love this scene, the little boy sees Klaus outside the window and tries to chase him out to find the gift giver, but only sees this picture. He was pleasantly surprised to find that someone would see the painting and feel his loneliness, and gave him a new toy. The little boy's little feet are stepping on the picture, which is very innocent and cute.

So cute little feet (*╹▽╹*)

No.2

Not only can Klaus pay attention to the children on the island, but he also cares about the birds in the forest near his home. He silently builds a small house by himself, where birds perch and store food. A gust of wind blew, and the little house tinkled, which was very pleasant.

No.3

The island began to change, and children and adults began to celebrate the festival. Against the backdrop of the lanterns, everything looks warm, and the long winter nights are no longer so unbearable because of the music and light.

(don't stare at me)

So while watching this movie, I don't need to pay attention to the plot at all, which is familiar enough to me to guess the next development, and I also know the final outcome very well. Nevertheless, I still like this movie very much. When watching it, I am like a detective, slowly finding the origin of each tradition from every detail, such as why Santa laughs "ho, ho, ho"; Does Santa Claus prepare so many presents all by himself; why the bad kids don't have presents; why does Santa Claus use reindeer as a helper, etc. These details will make the film more special and more realistic.

warm light

But this film answers the question I care most about: Why is this perennially cold place getting so warm? Perhaps as Klaus said: because selfless acts of kindness are always the most moving and the most influential. Because of Jesper and Klaus' changes, the people on the island began to change, and the islanders who were incompatible with each other became friendly and kind.

Therefore, it is highly recommended for people in the southern hemisphere to watch, and they can also experience the warmth in this winter. In the northern hemisphere, wait until Christmas and watch it, preferably Christmas Eve.

The painting style is very cute, the conflict is also good, the script is a little unbelievable

It is not the mainstream of three renderings and two in the short film industry in recent years, but the effect of two-dimensional hand-painting which is mistaken for three renderings and two. . It's just that the story is a bit boring, and the same is true for "Love Van Gogh". ★★★/6.5

Klaus quotes

  • [Jesper is woken by a knock at the door]

Jesper: [clumsily swinging a makeshift spear around and dropping it on the floor] He's here to finish the job! Oh no!

Annelise: Mr. Postman? Are you in there?

[Jesper peers through the door at the kids]

Jesper: Go away! Go! Leave! He'll hear you!

  • Mrs. Krum: Look around, Aksel! Where is your clan?

    Mr. Ellingboe: Uh...

Mrs. Krum: I'll tell you where they are - they're at block parties! Hayrides! And COOK-OUTS!

Concerned Ellingboe Man: Don't forget about the brunches!

Ellingboe Councilwoman: [sobbing] It was a book club that took my poor Sven!

Mrs. Krum: You see? The postman and that old toy maker are brainwashing everyone!

Mr. Ellingboe: What are you saying?

Mrs. Krum: I'm saying it's time to join forces against a common enemy! I'm saying... we need a TRUCE.

    [all gasp]

Mr. Ellingboe: A truce? Have you gone mad?

Mrs. Krum: Either we band together to take care of this, or it's gonna be all book clubs and cookouts from here on...

Concerned Ellingboe Man: And brunches! Don't forget about the brunches!

Mrs. Krum: Yes, that. That too.

Mr. Ellingboe: So... we must join together in peace, to stop this peace?
