Two and a half stars to three stars.
As someone who has lived in Israel, I reckon the Jewish people felt the same when they watched "Don't Tell Her" as I watched "Don't Tell Her", with the words "superficial" roaring at me. To tell the truth, this drama is far worse than "Don't Tell Her" in its exploration and presentation of the divisions and conflicts caused by differences in culture and concepts between Orthodox Judaism and modern secular society.
The length of 4 episodes is definitely a limiting factor, but I think it's mainly a question of the director's ability and the script, because one episode is worse than the other. In comparison, there is another show called "Shtisel" on netflix. Although I only watched three episodes because I thought the pace was too slow, those three episodes were enough to rub the show on the ground. (Update 8.13: I'm going!!!∑(゚Д゚ノ)ノBecause of this drama, Shtisel was opened again, and it turned out that the female lead also participated in Shtisel!!)
After watching it, I feel that the positioning of this drama is very strange, and I can't figure out who its audience is. If it is for people who know about Judaism, it is obviously too shallow, too funny, and too routine. But if it was filmed for the general public, it obviously didn't explain enough, and showed a lot of content, but the public may not know it at all, so they would only find it curious...
The plot is flat, lacking layers and ups and downs. Every time a subtitle like "Sad Music Playing" is displayed at the bottom of the screen, which may be for the hearing impaired, I want to laugh, because I think this show needs music to remind me what atmosphere the director wants to set...
It can be watched as a curious commercial drama. The amusing content of this show is very embarrassing to me, just like the atmosphere full of hypocritical social etiquette when the heroine and the group of students are together, and are often on the verge of being in the cold.
The appearance of the ps heroine is a bit like the mini version of Scarlett. The actress who plays the heroine's mother is so beautiful! ! !
