I hope you like this hymn dedicated to life,
Although ups and downs and sad, but worth the aftertaste.
Finally, I watched "Sacrifice" in bed on a spring night. At the end of the film, I saw the director's words at the end of the scene: This film was shot for my son, full of hope and confidence. All the turbulent factors such as discomfort, confusion, and unease that were previously suppressed in the heart have been halved, and a temporary relief has been obtained.
The whole film unfolds along two main lines, one is Alexander's review and reflection on his own life, and the other is his expectation for the life of his family in the future.
The film opens with a mottled mural of a girl helping the poor. In conjunction with Bach's "The Passion of Matthew", the film's heavy and melancholy tone was established, but the director, through the thriving life of the little boy, and the expectations that Alexander injected into his life, made us also cherish the expectations of the film. Unknown and beautiful expectations.
It was a river-side, grassy, and rarely-traveled countryside. Alexander and the little boy had just planted a tree, a tree of new life. During this period, Alexander told the little boy a story about persistence and success. It seems that Alexander is talking alone there, but at the end of the film, the little boy lays under the tree and thinks about the question: At the beginning, it was language, why Dad. We learned that all the fragments that seemed to be Alexander's monologue there had paved the way for the little boy to think independently in the future.
On Alexander's 50th birthday, postman Ola and a doctor friend Victor came to congratulate Alexander. The day before his birthday, Ola happened to meet Alexander on a bicycle with a little boy planting a tree, which is the scene at the beginning of the film. Aura began to talk about life with Alexander, and Aura seemed to have seen through Alexander's mind. He told Alexander not to have expectations. Alexander refuted that he had no expectations, but when he confided his feelings to Victor later, he still described the expectations he held for life.
"Sacrifice" is composed of color pictures intertwined with black and gray pictures. Most of the front is kept in natural and cooler colors. When the development reached its climax, the director cut out almost all the colors, leaving only black and white. The use of color is completely controlled by the development of the plot, but we will not feel awkward and uncomfortable because of the color conversion when watching, because everything transitions so naturally and appropriately.
As the plot unfolded further, I gradually realized that Alexander had been in a state of self-blame, and he felt sorry for his family. Because the family followed Alexander's decision to move to the current residence, which is now in danger of being bombed. Especially after seeing the news about the military, Alexander's wife couldn't hold back the long-buried resentment, and finally screamed out. Doctor Victor immediately stepped forward to hug her to comfort her, and even later She was sedated. But Alexander chose to escape. He felt guilty and blamed himself, but how to appease his wife, he seemed very cramped. Once again, he chose to wrap himself in thinking, where he prayed to God and was willing to trade his life for the safety of his family. Attempts to obtain liberation at the cost of self-sacrifice.
Ola seemed to read Alexander's mind again, and he said to Alexander: If you want this to end, you must go to Mariana and sleep with her, because she has superpowers in kindness. In the end, Alexander chose to sleep with Maria, and he rode the bicycle that Ola had left for him, because he couldn't drive there, so others would notice. Through the careful eyes of Alexander as he leaves the house, we can see that his wife and Victor are emotionally involved. This may also be one of the factors that prompted Alexander's decision. Hope the little boy and daughter are safe, and his relationship with his wife, who is entangled with Victor, is morally less stressful about what he's about to do not so gloriously. But Alexander was still uneasy. On the way, he hurriedly forgot what Ola had told him about the malfunction of his bicycle and fell in a puddle.
After arriving at Maria's house, the two had a relationship. The next day after waking up, it was the scene of Alexander lying on the sofa at home. At this time, the picture also began to become colorful, and gradually returned to the original color. The crisis has been lifted, and for the time being, this land has been able to communicate with the outside world again. Alexander changed into Japanese Bushido clothes to show that he was fulfilling his promise to God by sacrificing himself. He started to get nervous, and after everyone in the family went out, he set a torch and set the house on fire.
In the end, Alexander was taken away by ambulance, and Maria returned after being followed for a while on her bicycle.
Thankfully, the little boy's question gave me new expectations for life.
Who knows, maybe another continuation of the absurd,
But I always like to have expectations for new life.
