The ape and its owner

A work that fits perfectly from the script to the director and interpretation. The story is calm and unpretentious, with layers of paving and dripping, the establishment, suspicion, and collapse of the relationship between the characters are revealed calmly and shockingly. To what extent, after watching the prototype story and a lot of behind-the-scenes introductions, I was still frightened by the many shots and the overall atmosphere.
What makes me most frightened is that it reflects a role relationship similar to that of an ape and its owner, a relationship of flattering and being pleased, passive and controlling, counterattack and being attacked.
This relationship is reflected between Mark and John du Pont and between John du Pont and his mother. It is also prominently reflected in two sets of shots:
Mark, who dyed his hair and became addicted to drugs, was completely reduced to John du Pont’s private collection. He lay on the ground in the middle of the night to train with him, even shave him, squatted in front of him and asked him how he was. Channing Tatum contributed a very distinctive performance. In his primitive body movements, he showed developed limbs and simple mind everywhere, especially when he squatted in front of John du Pont, pretending to attack and then beat Du Pont's. The movement of the knees made an orangutan alive.
And when John du Pont watched his mother on the training ground, in order to show his coaching status, he pretended to instruct the players, even took out his assassin, and lay on the ground to let the players open him. This set of actions looks embarrassing to the audience, because they all know that John du Pont is a fake trick with no real ability. In the eyes of the audience, these actions are no different from juggling; but in the eyes of his mother, obsessed with these "disgusting" "The son of the sport is no different from the clown.
John du Pont raises Mark with desire, ambition, and recognition, and John du Pont has to behave in his mother in all kinds of ways to seek recognition. He has a deformed inferiority complex and a sense of satisfaction. On the one hand, he is weak in his heart because of his mother. Power attracts more "collectibles".
However, Mark also colluded with others to fake John du Pont’s wrestling victory, which showed that Mark knew how well John du Pont was outside. It was okay for him to be humiliated and turned over immediately after John du Pont gave him a slap. see.
"What qualifications do you have to insult me? What is your ability to insult me?" The state of the instructor and apprentice at the beginning was already overwhelmed by lustful desires, the mask was torn, gifts and prizes disappeared, and he shaved off his blond hair as if After tearing off the belonging mark that Du Pont had branded on him, the apes immediately attacked the owner.
This is something John du Pont did not estimate, because he did not treat these athletes as adults from the beginning, just his playthings, gold medals, and pets who could accompany him in wrestling games at any time. And without the true ability of wrestling, he will never win the long-term and true respect of these athletes.
That's why Dave squeezed out the only compliment so reluctantly. Dave is very sober. He really helps his younger brother. He treats wrestling as a profession, and his cooperation with John du Pont as a business. He has a happy family. All this prevented John du Pont from buying him. Realizing that temptation is useless, John du Pont once again tried to pose as a noble man, saying a few bluffing words about patriotic values, but he was scared out of the scene before he could say it. The man in front of him was completely insufficient like Mark. Call him John instead of Mr. Du Pont.
John du Pont was on the verge of collapsing to the point where he could hear the crunching mentality. He reached a critical point when watching the video tape. He talked to the camera alone, as if repeating his great achievements to his mother. In his knowledge, either people surrendered to his feet, or his mother did not look at him contemptuously.
"Do you have any problem?" The sentence exposed his imbalance when the shot was fired. This person who did not respect him and rejected the rope he threw, dared to look directly instead of looking up, and dared not to squat in front of him to show his goodness, only It takes a few shots to vent your anger.
Steve Carell, the perverted wealthy monster played by Steve Carell, became the source of half of the horror as the soul of the whole movie. In Miller’s vision, a dude brought a group of wrestlers to the Olympics, which was a crazy situation. His conception is fully presented. In this crazy, weird and weird picture, a group of orangutans driven by a whip is running around the field of the DuPont family, running back and forth with the precious horse group.

Even if you have never heard of the real events on which the adaptation is based, just from Carrell's makeup (sick complexion, exaggerated nose, sluggish expression, and stiff movements), you can already predict that there will be enough subversive events that will lead to the sudden breakdown of the relationship. What's embarrassing is that this striking suspense introduction has never aroused the desire to continue to pay attention. The interaction of the wrestling field manor is usually unremarkable and moody. Decent, waiting for two hours in such a pre-clear and boring storyline to hear that sound? ~~~~ OMG!
