Said that everyone woke up and I was drunk alone. Isn't it time for all of us to escape from reality to avoid harm? But to be so willing to indulge in a lie is enough to show the depth of love. Uncle Tie's tearful eyes staring at a lover or reminiscing about the past in a romance movie are just heartbreaking, while Song's teardrop on the plane proves two-way love and provides a bit of comfort.
The identity swap at the end is very powerful. It can be considered an irony that a western white man full of self-confidence and desire to conquer fades into a lady butterfly in his romance with a female and self-sacrificing oriental man. But the possibility of this kind of story happening is limited to that era.
When I look at it again, I notice the mutual scrutiny between Easterners and Westerners: this tendency to have a deep understanding of each other before they have a deep understanding of each other, and to have a preconceived and difficult to change tendency, whether it is the mutual admiration of the two in the film, or Today's cross-cultural exchanges and ideological games between China and the West provide logical clues. Does true mutual respect, understanding and appreciation between individuals across races and cultures really exist or can they exist? When I read "The Seed And The Sower", I was moved by the inter-individual bond constructed by the author, but seeing so many things happening in the world during this time, my attitude towards cross-cultural communication has become more and more pessimistic.
The original sound was well received. It was less aggressive than "The Last Emperor", and more mournful and lingering. It also won the oriental charm and was very endearing~
That's it, I accidentally swiped a still photo today to update the short comment, but I couldn't write it down :D
