"The Cramers" is a family ethics film produced by Columbia Pictures in 1979, directed by Robert Benton and starring Dustin Hoffman, Meryl Streep and Justin Henry. The film premiered in the United States on December 17, 1979. The film tells the story of Billy, a child from a single-parent family, and his father, Mr. Kramer, who depended on each other for their lives and finally reunited with their mother.
In the ice cream scene, in order to challenge his father, Billy skipped dinner and went directly to dessert. It was an impromptu performance by Dustin Hoffman and Justin Henry. Director Robert Benton liked this paragraph very much, so he kept it in the movie.
