The film tells the story of screenwriter Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston) since he entered Hollywood in the 1930s and has dedicated classic works such as "Roman Holiday", "Exodus" and "Spartacus". Behind the honor, Trumbo's career was very bumpy, he was persecuted by the Un-American Activities Council (HUAC) in the late 1940s, was fired by MGM in 1950, and went to prison. After he was released from prison, he was blacklisted by the government and was unable to work for a time, so Trumbo borrowed someone else's name to write a script. He once won two golden statuettes for best screenplay with "Roman Holiday" and "Brave", but the writer of the script at the time was not signed by his name. It was not until 1960 that Trumbo got out of the persecution and his screenwriting talent was able to see the light of day again.
