See the director's mind

The introverted girl Ellie is attracted by the beautiful mushroom cool Aster. The opening chapter is the familiar AliceWu formula. Ellie's background setting is the same as before: a Chinese scholar, dressed casually and vaguely gender, with a heart of gold, and financial constraints; Aster is from Sacramento (instant crossing << lady Bird>), father is a priest.

This youthful image presented by Wu Siwei after many years is more free and brisk than , and the humor is softened in the plot, making people feel like a spring breeze. The discussion seems to go a step further, but it's just a shallow taste. Fortunately, the story is brisk and does not violate harmony.

In some places, the use of the lens seems to have borrowed the techniques of some great actresses. In the scene of Aster and Ellie driving out, there is a strong sense of familiarity, which makes people smile.

The most heart-warming thing is to see the director's heart softened by the years, telling the story gently, calmly and sincerely, which is most touching.

  • [Ellie, the true author of many classmate assignments turned in, comes up to Mrs. Geselschap's front desk to turn in her own assignment]

Mrs. Geselschap: Six different takes on Plato. Impressive.

Ellie Chu: [maintaining the pretense] Just the one.

Mrs. Geselschap: That's what I tell the bartender.

Ellie Chu: How come you never turn me in?

Mrs. Geselschap: And have to read the actual essays they'd write?

  • Ellie Chu: I'm Ellie Chu.

Aster Flores: Yes, I know. You've only been playing my dad's services every Sunday for, like, four years. You're his favorite heathen. He can't handle mediocre accompanists, even if they ARE saved.
