interior of the bones in winter. Ruiyi's house is
standing by the kitchen sink in the morning, squirting water on his face, and then drying it with a towel. In the background, the radio is playing music softly.
At the other end of the room, Ashley was sleeping on the couch under a blanket.
Rye (in a low voice): Ashley, it's dawn!
Ashley slammed on her elder brother who was sleeping in the chair.
Ashley: Get up! get up!
Ashley pounced on her brother again.
Rey pours the oil into the heated saucepan, then puts the potato chips into the sizzling oil. The radio is now reporting cold weather conditions.
Ashley, wrapped in a blanket, looked at Rye who was standing by the stove.
Rye: Morning.
Ashley: Early.
Rye opened the refrigerator and searched for dog food. She took out a bowl, sniffed it, and then handed it to Ashley.
Rye: It's better than nothing.
Ashley took the bowl and went outside the room to give the puppy something to eat.

After a while at Ruiyi's house,
Ashley walked through the yard with dog food. Nick, the hound in the family, warmly welcomes her. Ashley put the bowl on the ground.

Rye: Where did you find it?
Sonny: In the woods.
Rye: So cute.
Rey and her mother petted the puppy.

Ashley and a few children were doing crafts.
Rey looked at Ashley for a while, and then walked along the corridor to the high school section of the K-12 (Note 2) school.

The tenth classroom of the Inner View School is a daytime
parenting class. The students are each holding a simulated baby, and they are listening to the teacher's guidance.
Rey peered in the corridor.
Teacher: Change a position. Be careful. Hold your head. Then let him lean on your shoulder. Now the baby's position is higher, but you still have to hold his head to make sure you hold him accurately.
In the classroom, the teenage students are earnestly trying to pick up the simulated baby in the correct way. Students from the

daytime
reserve officer training team carrying guns along the corridor in the interior school corridor enter the gymnasium. Rye came from the opposite direction.

Location: Bronde Milton’s yard during the day
Rye walked towards the stables.
Rye: Hi, Sonia.
Sonia: Hi, Rye.
Sonia put down the rake and faced Rey.
Sonia: How are you and the kids?
Rye: We are a little tight lately.
Sonia: The horse hasn't eaten for a few days?
Rye: It's almost four days.
Sonia: Hay is quite expensive, isn't it?
Rye: Yes. (Pause) Actually, I want to ask you, can she stay with your horse?
After a long silence, Sonia opened the stable door and let Rye's horse and her family's horse graze together.
Sonia (to Rye's horse): Come on, Ginger, go in. Go there. Eat more. Eat it.
Rye: Thank you, Sonia.
Sonia: You are welcome.
Rey glanced at her pony one last time, then turned back from the yard.

In the courtyard of Ruiyi's house,
Ruiyi was cutting wood during the day . She wears headphones, and the music gives her more motivation when chopping wood.
A car drove up. The house dog Nick barked, then walked across the yard to meet the car.
Two of Rey's relatives, Sonia and her husband, Brand Milton, are skinning deerskin in their yard. They looked up to see who was coming. When the car approached, Rey saw that it was a police car. She threw away the axe and walked to the car that had just stopped.
County Sheriff Baskin, 30, got out of the car. Rey walked up the porch and blocked the door of the house with his body.

Location Ruiyi's porch during the day.
Baskin: How is today?
Rye didn't answer him.
Baskin: Go in. You have to talk to your mother.
Rey opened the door and stepped aside by himself.
Rye: She won't speak.
Baskin walked into the house.
Baskin: Madam? Can I ask you a few questions? (Pause) Madam?
Rye could hear her mother silent. Baskin returned to the porch.
Rye: You better talk to me.
Baskin, leaning against the porch pillar, stood opposite Rye.
Baskin: Your dad is on bail pending trial, you know?
Rye: So what?
Baskin: He seems to be doing his old business again.
Rye: It's just that you said, you have no evidence. You have to have evidence.
Baskin: It's not difficult. But I am not here for this. I'm going to appear in court next week. I don't think I hope to see your dad anymore.
Rye: Maybe he will take the initiative to see you.
Baskin: Maybe. However, the problem that involves you is that he has already put this house and the acres of woods in front as mortgage bail.
Rye: What about then?
Baskin: Jessup escorted everything out. If he does not appear in court, you will lose everything. (Pause) Is there any other place to go?
Rye was shocked, but she tried to conceal her emotions.
Rye: I will find him.
Baskin: Girl, I have already looked for it.
Rye: I said, I will find him.
Baskin looked into the distance. He saw Brand Milton walking towards this side from where he stood. After a moment, Baskin turned and left.
Baskin: You must let your dad know the seriousness of the matter.
Baskin drove away. Brand Milton and Sonia continue to skin their deerskins.
Sonny walked towards the porch with the chopping wood and stood beside Rey, watching Sonia and Brand cut strips of venison in the yard and hung them up.
Sonny: Maybe they will give us some.
Rye: Maybe.
Sonny: Maybe we should ask.
Rye looked at his younger brother and put his chin in his hands.
Rye: Never ask for something you deserve.

In the evening, Ashley
and Sonny warm up by the fire at Ruiyi's house . Sonia walked in with a large cardboard box, and venison bones emerged from the edge of the box.
Sonia: Good evening, Rye.
Rye: Good evening.
Sonia: Children. Hi, Connie. I don't want you to think that we have forgotten you.
Sonia put the cardboard box on the kitchen table.
Sonia: I brought you some meat and some ingredients for potatoes and stews.
Rye: Thank you. We just use it.
Sonia: Your firewood is running out. There are hacks in my yard. You can use it.
Rye: I will.
Sonia: The police came this afternoon. Is it okay?
Rye: He came to see my dad.
Sonny, hearing the conversation, raised his head.
Sonia: He is looking for Jessup? Do you know where your dad is?
Rye: I don't know.
Sonia: Really don't know?
Rye: Yes.
Sonia: Well, it seems you didn't tell him anything, did you?
Rye: Even if I knew it, I wouldn't tell him.
Sonia: Oh, all right. I know you can handle it, can't you?
Sonia left suddenly, waved goodbye to Connie, then closed the door behind
Rye and looked at her younger siblings.
Rye: Stewed venison, okay?
Ashley: Well, good.
Rye: Okay, come here and see what I do.

During the day,
Ruiyi walked along a thorny path, then left the path and walked towards a lane.

Outside view Gale’s porch during the day
Rye walked through the yard and stepped onto the corridor. She knocked on the door, and then stood outside and waited. The sound of lashing metal (note 3) was heard from the room. Gail, 17, holding her baby Ned, opened the door.
Gail: Thank goodness, it's you, sweet bean, okay. They are Freud's parents. They always stare at me, as if I did something wrong.

Freud, 18 years old, was dressed in an "anti-tank" suit and was wearing boots matching the clothes on his feet.
Freud: Don't you always say that. They gave you a house, okay?
Rye: Hi, Freud. Won't you invite me in? Or I will stand at the door and chat with you.
Freud: Hi, come in.
Rey walked into the room, passed by Freud, and walked towards the kitchen.

Interior view of Gale’s kitchen during the day
Gale hugged Ned and Rye in one hand.
Rye: Hi.
Gail: Hi.
Rye looked at little Ned. Now her best friend is already a mother.
Rye: Damn it.
Gail: Don't talk dirty. Come inside.
Gail carried the baby and walked through the narrow corridor into the bedroom. Rye followed behind her.

Interior view of Gal's bedroom
Rey fell heavily on the bed during the day . Gail lay beside her, little Ned between them.
Gail: It's been a while, dear.
Rye: There are a lot of messes.
Gail: What's wrong?
Rye: The county sheriff came to my house to find my dad. If he is absent on court day, we will be homeless. I have to go to the Arkansas border to find him.
Gail: Then you have to ask him. The car belongs to him.
Gail sat up and left the bedroom. While Gail was talking to Freud, Rey picked up little Ned.
Gail returned.
Gail: He said no.
Rye: Didn't you tell him that I pay for gas?
Gail: I told him. Then he won't borrow it either.
Rye: Why?
Gal: He never explained to me, Rye. He would just say no.
Rye: Sisters, it's sad to hear you say that. If he doesn't let you do it, you won't do it.
Gail: Once you get married, it's different.
Gail lay on the bed again.
Rye: Indeed, you didn't eat this set before.
Gail: The child has to sleep for a while.
Gal took little Ned from Rye's arms.
Gail (whispering to the baby): Come here.
Gail watched Rye leave.

During the day in the exterior woods,
Rui Yi climbed up a wooded hillside.

Location Tildeep's house Rey
walked into the yard during the day , and the puppy came up to welcome her. A dark brown wooden house. Victoria, 30, opened the door.
Victoria: Why are you here? Someone has passed away?
Rye: I'm looking for my dad.
Victoria held the door and beckoned Rye in.
Victoria: Come in and talk. Warm and warm.
Rye entered the room, and Victoria followed.

Interior Tildeep House Daytime
Rye and Victoria walked into the kitchen.
Victoria: Be quiet. Tildepp hasn't gotten up yet.
Rey took off her coat and sat at the table. Victoria poured two cups of coffee.
Rye: The police are here today. My dad pledged everything to make bail. Victoria, I have to find him and let him appear in court.
Rey's uncle, Tildepp, 40 years old, a man with a tired face and a shaggy face, walked in. He lit a cigarette and walked across the room.
Tildepp: You can't do this. Don't go to Jessup.
Tildepp sat down on the table.
Tildepp: Whether to appear in court or not is up to the person who is going to go to jail. You said it doesn't count.
Rye: You know where he is, right?
Tildepp: You don't need to let you know where the man is.
Rye: But you...
Tildepp suddenly looked at Rye with warning eyes.
Tildepp: I haven't seen him.
Victoria put a cup of coffee in front of him. silence. Rey wondered what she should do next.
Rye: Will he be with the people like Arthur?
Tildepp absently loaded the pistol magazine.
Tildepp: Don't go to Arthur and ask what they don't want to tell you. Doing so will definitely be violently beaten by the herd of beasts, unless you like it.
Rye: Aren't we relatives?
Tildepp continued to fiddle with his pistol.
Tildepp: Our relationship with the little Arthur's family is not going to work.
Tildepp threw the pistol on the turntable in the center of the table.
Victoria: You know them, Tildepp. You can ask.
Tildepp: Shut up.
Victoria: None of them will be in a hurry to fight with you.
Tildepp: I already told you to shut up.
Tildeep stood up, turned his back to Rey, and walked towards the kitchen stove.
Rye: My dad is your only brother.
Tildeep turned to look at her.
Tildepp: Do you think I forgot? Um? Jessup has been with me for 40 years, but I don't know where he is, and I don't want to ask about his whereabouts.
Victoria wants to ease the tension by changing the subject.
Victoria: Rye, are you still planning to join the army?
Rye: No, I'm afraid it won't work now. (To Tildepp) Listen to me...
Tildepp suddenly rushed to Rey, grabbed her by the hair, and tugged her head back. He lowered his head close to her face.
Tildepp (shaking his head and saying): No!
He let go of her and left the kitchen.
Victoria stared at Rey tightly, and then followed Tildepp away.
Sitting at the table, Rye could hear the low-pitched conversation from another room. When the couple quarreled, Rye stood up and put on his coat.
Victoria (voice-over): She needs help.
Tildepp (voice-over): No way. no! listen! You tell the girl, let her stay at home honestly. Don't go anywhere. Give this to her. Then let her go immediately.
Victoria returned to the kitchen.
Victoria: Tildepp said you'd better stay at home. He hopes this can help you.
Victoria stuffed a roll of banknotes into Rey's hands, and then drew a marijuana cigarette from her cigarette case.
Victoria: Let's smoke a cigarette on the road.
Rye took the cigarette.
Rye: Thank you.
Victoria watched Rey leave.

Rye picked up the apple and gave it to the donkey. Megan, 20, walked out of the house, stood in the hallway, and said hello to Rye.
Megan: Hi! What are you doing here?
Rye: My dad's name is Jessup. He and little Arthur are old friends, I came to him.
Megan looked down at Rye and said nothing for a long time.
Megan: Wait a minute.
Megan walked into the room. Rey looked at the yard carefully. The wind was blowing, and an ominous metal sound rang around her.
Megan returned again wearing her coat, walked to Rey, and led her through the yard full of waste.
Megan: My name is Megan, I should know you. I have seen you several times at a party, and if I see Jessup, I will definitely recognize it. Although I haven't talked to him much.
Rye: Do you know him?
Megan: I mean, you can recognize it when you see it. I heard something about him.
Rye: He makes drugs.
Megan: They all do this. No need to make a fuss.

Interior view of Little Arthur's house In the afternoon,
little Arthur, in his 30s, looked nervously out of the window.

In the afternoon
, Megan and Rey walked towards Arthur’s house.
Megan: If little Arthur is making drugs, you have to leave here right away, okay?
The door opened and little Arthur smiled at Rey.
Little Arthur: I know, you dreamt of me, right, little Ruth.
Rye: My name is Rye, bastard. I came to find my dad.
Little Arthur: Come in, ladies.
Rey squeezed past Megan and walked into the house. Megan followed behind her.

Interior view of Arthur's house in the afternoon
There is no sunlight in the room. Little Arthur tapped the wall of the glass tank, teasing his pet ferret. Rey and Megan stood in the doorway, looking at him from the other side of the room.
Rye: It won't take you too much time. I'm looking for my dad, and I think you may have seen him, maybe you two got together again.
Little Arthur looked away from the ferret, he turned around and sat on the sofa.
Little Arthur: We won't be together after the summer. It was still at your house then.
Rye: Have you never seen him since then?
Little Arthur: Yeah.
Rye: He never went home. Do you know where he went?
Little Arthur: Do you have cat poop in your ears, girl?
Rye: I have to take care of my younger siblings and my mother. I must find him.
Little Arthur: If I see him, I will pass on the words you just said to him.
Little Arthur lit a cigarette and his hands trembled.
Megan: Your father dumped the whole family to you? He is such a bastard.
Rye: Yes, it's all left to me, that's it.
Rye stared at little Arthur. He was sitting on the sofa, leaning forward and shaking.
Little Arthur: Do you want to leave a note?
Rye: No.
Little Arthur: Do you want to smoke a cigarette?
Rye: No.
Little Arthur hit the table and stood up.
Little Arthur: Then there is nothing I can do to help you.
He waved them away.
Little Arthur: Let's go.
Rye and Megan left without further delay. Little Arthur watched them go out.

In the afternoon, Lone Star Road,
Megan and Rey walk along the road in the afternoon .
Megan: Don't tell anyone that I told you, okay? You should go up the mountain and ask Tupa Milton. Hope he can tell you. However, he usually does not chat with others.

Megan: Oh, it's not a bad thing to be afraid of him. He is my grandfather, and I never dared to mess with him.
They kept walking until they reached the end of Megan's yard.

Location Megan’s Yard In the afternoon
Megan: Go find Tupa.
Megan stepped on the barbed wire fence with her foot and let Rey step over.
Megan: Let's go.

In the afternoon
, Tupa Milton’s yard Mylab, 50, walked out of the house and stood in the corridor. Rye walked across the yard. Several big dogs barked immediately when they saw her.
Mailab: Did you go to the wrong place? who are you?
Rye: This is Rye. My father is Jessup Dolly.
Marab waved his hand and motioned for Rey to come closer. Rye moved a few steps toward the corridor.
Mailab: You didn't come to find the ballast, did you?
Rye: Yes.
Mylab: One of my nephews, Buster Leroy, he shot your dad, didn't he?
Rye: Yes, but that has nothing to do with me. I think they have settled it all by themselves.
Mailab: Shot him, of course things are settled. What are you doing here?
Rye: I need to talk to Tupa urgently.
Mailab: He doesn't need to talk to you.
Mailab turned towards the door.
Rye: But I want to talk to him. I really need it very, very much. I beg you!
Mailab turned to face Rye.
Rye: At least we still have some relatives. There is always some meaning. Don’t people often say that?
Marab was provoked, and she walked to Rey.
Mailab: Can't you find a man to talk about it?
Rye: No, I can't find it.
Mailab: Waiting at the chicken coop in the yard, I will talk to Tupa.
Rye: Thank you.
Rui Yi walked towards the chicken coop. Mailab walked into the house.

In the afternoon, Tupa Milton’s yard

Mailab: He has no time to see you, boy.
Rye: I have to talk to him. If he doesn't know, then no one knows.
Mailab: No. Chatting will also become testimony. He doesn't want to cause trouble.
Rye: I can wait.
Mailab: You have to go home.
She handed the cup to Rey.
Mailab: Here you are, drink it and go home.
Rey drank the contents of the glass, then handed the empty glass to Mailab.
Rye: Thank you.
Mailab: Tupa knew you were in the valley just now, boy. With Megan. He also went to the little Arthur's house. He knows what you want to ask, but he doesn't want to listen.
Rye: Is that all? He doesn't plan to tell me anything?
Mailab: My child, if you listen to me, you should know the answer.
Mailab turned and walked towards the house. Rey shouted behind her.
Rye: It seems I came here for nothing. relative. The relationship doesn't make any sense to him. Am I right?
Marab turned around and looked directly into Rey's eyes.
Mailab: You are not allowed to say that, no! I hope you listen to me, boy. You have to go home and stay home and honestly
Merab turned and walked toward the house. When she walked to the door, she turned around.
Mailab: Don't let me come out and tell you a second time.
Mailab walked into the room and closed the door. When Rye left with heavy steps, Marab looked at her suspiciously from the window.

During the day at Ruiyi’s house, Ashley

Rye: Don't touch me.
Brand Milton: Let you get in the car.
Brand Milton pushed Rey towards the car. Rey hugged the corridor pillar and struggled. Brand Milton pushed Rey down the steps.
Rye: Get out.
Brand Milton: Get in the car.
Sonny walked out of the house.
Sonny: Hi!
Brand Milton: Are you looking for a beating, kid?
Rye: Sonny, go back to the house. When the potatoes turn brown, turn off the heat.
Sonny: Don't hurt my sister.
Rye: Sonny!
Brand Milton turned around, stepped onto the corridor steps, and grabbed Sonny by the collar.
Brand Milton: The bastard is kind of kind, but you'd better not mess with me.
Rye: Sonny, go back to the house!
Brand Milton (to Rye): You fucking get in the car as soon as possible.
Rye: I won't go with you.
Brand Milton: Get in the car. Take you to see something.
Rye and Milton got into the car.

Rye: Where are we going?
Brand Milton: Follow this path.
Rye: Where to go along the road?
Brand Milton: Go to a place you should see.
Rye looked around anxiously, trying to figure out the direction of this trip.

Rye: He has never exploded during drug production.
Brand Milton: I know. But something must have gone wrong this time.
Rye: He is famous because he has never had an accident and has a high level of drug production. He knows what he should do.
Brand Milton: You will know after a long time that this kind of thing will happen sooner or later.
Rye: You mean my dad was bombed to death here?
Brand Milton: That's what it means.
Rye: I want to go up and have a look.
Rye opened the door on her side and got out of the car.
Brand Milton grabbed her arm.
Brand Milton: No! There is a lot of poison there. Will get into your bones.
Rye: If Dad is here, I will take him home for burial.
Brand Milton: Rye!
Rey broke free of Milton's hand holding her arm, got out of the car, and slammed the door shut.

The scorched house in the exterior scene during the day
Rye crossed the path and walked towards the house.
She approached cautiously, carefully examining the ruined walls. One of the walls was blown into the yard, the window was broken, the fragments of the black wall, and the insulation material swayed with the wind on the broken wall panel.

Brand Milton: Rey, I know that losing Jessup makes you sad. There are a bunch of things to deal with.
Rye: We can handle it.
Brand Milton: Sonia and I talked about this. I think we can help you bring the big sonny. Let alone Ashley, but we can bring Sonny.
Rye: What do you mean?
Brand Milton: We can take Sonny and raise him.
Rye: Let's see your ghost.
Brand Milton: We can raise him better than you and your unemployed mother. If it doesn't work, we can also take away Ashley.
Rye: Go to hell, son of a bitch. Even if Sonny and Ashley died in the cave with my mother and I, they would not spend one night with you.
Rye walked away, then turned around again.
Rye: Bastard! Do you think I am a fool? The weeds in that place have grown taller. The house has been blown up for a year!
Rye spit on his feet. Brand Milton turned and left. Rye crossed the empty field angrily and walked towards his home.

Outside view of Ruiyi's courtyard During the day,
Sonny and Ashley put plastic bottles on the picnic table, and then ran to the distance, where Ruiyi was waiting for them.
Rye erected a double-barreled shotgun, allowing Sonny and Ashley to take a closer look.
Rye: Come here and look at this. Ashley, stop playing there, come here. Press this to launch this barrel, and press that to launch that barrel. Generally, simultaneous launches are not encountered. When you really meet a guy who is big and difficult to deal with, you have to do both.
Rey placed the double-barreled shotgun on the ground, and then picked up another shotgun lying on the ground.
Rye: This gun will be used when you are old. It is the gun I use when I learn to shoot. It's Dad's small caliber gun. Now, the most important thing is not to put your finger on the trigger unless you have aimed at the target and are ready to shoot. Never ever-----You two look at me-----Never point your guns at each other, never! Okay? Kneel on the ground as you did when you prayed. Yes, that's it, that's right.
Sonny picked up the gun and put it on his shoulder.
Rye stood beside him and guided.
Rye: Did you see that cross? That is the line of sight. Use this to aim at the center of the target. After aiming, pull the trigger and shoot.
Sonny shot.
Rye: Good!
Gal (voice-over): Rye!
Rye: Wait a minute (to Gail) Hi! (To Sonny and Ashley) You take care of your hands. Don't touch the gun by anyone.
Gail hugged the baby lying in the baby carrier and began to paint. Rye gave her a hug.
Gail: Hi!
Rye: Hi!
Gail: Sweet beans, what are you doing with a gun?
Rye: Teach them some survival skills.
Rey glanced at the baby in the baby carrier.

Gail: Turn it around.
Rye: Backward?
Gail: Yes. Does your mother know what will happen next?
Rye: I don't know.
Gail: Do you think you will tell her?
Rye: These are the things she has been desperately trying to avoid. It was cruel to tell her.
Gail: I don't think she can help much.
Rye: Yeah.
They climbed into the car and drove away. A family gathering

Maridet (singing): I look out into the deep valley. The vast green fields are endless. When I regained the memories of the past, my heart yearned for you so much, and those years. On the high hills, the breeze blows freely, I wonder if you still remember me.
Mariday said to his friend.
Maliday: Do it again.
Rye and Gail (with baby carrier) knock on the door.
April got up to answer the door.
Maridet (singing): I'm thinking, do you still remember me, do you remember that time has passed away? When I heard the breeze whispering in the forest, I was wondering if you still remember me.
April opened the door, hesitating to let Rye in.
Maridah (singing): Come, all beautiful and gentle ladies. We have been warned about how you can show your courtesy to men.
April: Come in.
April motioned for Rye and Gail to enter the house. The two of them walked in quietly and looked around to see if anyone they knew.
April: It's mother's birthday.
Rye: Happy birthday.
April: What would you like to have? Drink or eat?
Rye: I'm here to find my dad.
April: I guessed it. Come in and talk.
April led Rye and Gail through the living room and into her daughter's room.
Malide (singing): They are like a lone star in the early summer morning, fleeting, I wish I was a bird with a pair of wings, flying away. With a pair of wings, flying towards the distance...

Interior view April's home bedroom
In the narrow children's room at night , Gail and Rye listened carefully to April's words.
April: You know, Jessup and I were together a long time ago.
Rye: I know. But I think maybe you can tell me something.
April: Well, I really have something to tell you. I think this will also make me easier.
April sat down beside them.
Rye: Are you still drinking?
April: No, no, I have quit. A few months ago, Jessup and I met unexpectedly. He can still make me laugh, and for a day or two, our old relationship rekindles. But soon he left. About three or four weeks later, I saw him in Crukshank with three other people I didn't know, and they didn't seem to be unhappy.
Rye: Did Dad say something?
April: He stared at me, but he pretended not to recognize me, as if he had never seen me before. There must be something wrong.
Rey fell into deep thought, considering these words. April stared into her eyes.
April: I'm sorry.

In the early morning in the woods
, the three of them sat quietly with their backs against a big oak tree. Rey gripped the shotgun tightly, ready to shoot.
Rye: If you can keep quiet, they will come out soon.
Sonny sneezed.
Rye: God bless.
Sonny: How long will we have to wait for the squirrels to come out?
Rye: It usually takes a long time.
Sonny: I hope we can meet the deer.
Rye: Now is not the time to hunt deer.
Sonny: When?
Rye: Early in the morning or at night.
Ashley (whispering to Rye): Did you see it?
Rye: Well, where is it?
Ashley pointed to the front.
Ashley (in a low voice): There.
Rye: Ah! Help me press the trigger. Put your hands here.
Rye and Ashley pulled the trigger together.

In the early morning in Ruiyi's courtyard, Ashley
and Sonny put three squirrels on the table. Rye put down a bucket.
Rye: Well, do you want to eat fried or stewed?
Sonny and Ashley: Fried!
Rye: Fried? All right.
Rey held a knife in his hand, ready to peel the squirrel.
Gail came over with a cup of coffee.
Rye: Hi.
Gail: Hi.
Rey's knife cuts under the skin of the squirrel.
Rye: Alright. Now put your finger in, and I will put your finger in too. one two Three.
Rye and Sonny, the two pulled the squirrel skin and tore it in opposite directions.
Rye: Pull. Hard.
They continued to tear the squirrel skin.
Rye: Now, I'm going to crack it up here.
She cut through the squirrel meat with a knife.
Rye: Reach in and take out the internal organs.
Sonny: I won't do it.
Rye: Sonny, there are many things that you have to overcome even if you are scared.
Sonny turned around.
Sonny: I'm not afraid, I just don't want to do this.
Rye: Come on. Put your hands in.
Rey instructs Sonny to put his hand in the squirrel's belly.
Rye: Good job.
Sonny pulled out a long section of intestines.
Sonny: Do we still eat these?
Rye: Not now.

Location. Brand Milton’s
firewood room during the day. Rey was chopping wood with a cutter. Tildepp came over quietly and turned off the engine. Rye was taken aback, and she turned around.
Tildepp: Do you think I forgot you?
Rye: What do you mean?
Tildepp: Forget about you, forget everything that happened here.
Rye: That's your business. Forget it as you please.
Tildepp: The police found Jessup's car on Lake Garrett this morning. Someone burned it with a fire last night, and there was almost nothing left. (Pause) He is not inside.
Rye looked away, then turned to face him.
Rye: He ran away, didn't he?
Tildepp took out a stack of rolled up banknotes from his jacket and handed it to Rye.
Tildepp: This is for you. He should appear in court this morning, but he didn't come. I will help you sell the woodland as soon as possible.
Rye: No, I would never do that.
Tildepp: Girl, once they take this piece of wood from you-----
Tildepp pinched Rey's chin.
Tildepp: The first thing they have to do is to cut down these hundreds of years of trees, leaving you with a piece of stubborn roots. It would be better to keep the money for your own use.
Tildepp took a bag of white powder from his jacket, dug a little with a key, and sucked it into his nose. Rye turned his head. He shook the white powder in the bag towards her.
Tildepp: Have you not tasted it yet?
Rye: Never tasted it.
Tildepp: It's up to you, little girl. Did those medicines make your mother any better?
Rye: She has been eating, but to no avail.
Tildepp: Say hello to her for me.
Tildepp left slowly. Rye watched him leave behind him.

Interior view of Rye’s Connie’s bedroom during the day
Rye stood in front of his parents’ wardrobe, looking at Jessup’s belongings. She touched his clothes with her fingers, looked at the little boots he had collected, and missed her father.

During the day in the courtyard of
Ruiyi's house, Ruiyi's younger siblings felt the tension around him. Ashley hugged the puppy. Sonny was lying on the trampoline.

Rye: Mom, look at me.
Connie looked straight ahead blankly.
Rye: Something happened, but I don't know what to do.
Rye waited for her mother's response.
Rye: Mom, can you help me this time? Mom, look at me.
Connie looked at Rye blankly.
Rye: Tildepp thinks I should sell this forest, mother. Should I sell it? Please, mother, help me this time.
Rye turned around, helpless, she tried not to let the tears fall.
Rye: I don't know what to do.
The breeze blew gently across the woods, and the clouds floated slowly.

Outside the courtyard of Ruiyi's house during the day
Gail and Ruiy drove the car slowly towards Ruiy's house. In front of the house, a stranger was standing by the car waiting. Golden Retriever and Catfish Milton watched from the other side of the road.

Interior view of Freud's car during the day (in

Gail (voice-over): Look at that car, it doesn't seem like we are here.

The
truck stopped during the day in Ruiyi's yard . When Rye got out of the car, Mike Satterfield, took out his ID, and walked towards Rye.
Satterfield: This is Mike Satterfield, A-1 insurer.
Rye: What do you want to do?
Satterfield: We have a contract with Jessup Dolly, and now he ran away, it seems so.
Rye: He didn't run away.
Satterfield: But he didn't appear in court-----this is an escape. (To Gail) Sorry, please let us talk separately. Trouble you!
Rey handed a bag of items to Gail. Gail walked towards the corridor with Ned in his arms, then stood there listening to them.
Satterfield: Listen, I don't want to trouble your dad, okay? I just want the judge to stay away from me.
Rye: My dad is dead. He didn't appear in court because he no longer knew where he died.
Satterfield: When was the last time you saw him?
Rye: A few weeks ago.
Satterfield: Who is he with? Where are those people?
Rye: Sir, he didn't tell me this.
Satterfield: You know I have the right to arrest people wherever I want.
Rye: I knew you were wasting time, and you were annoying me. Jessup Dolly is dead. He is now lying in a dirty graveyard somewhere, maybe it has long since turned into a pile of shit in a pigpen, or he was abandoned in the wilderness, but no matter where he is, he is dead.
Satterfield: How did you know?
Rye: You must have heard that Tori is a person, right, sir?
Satterfield: Well, I know a little bit, I have released many people on bail.
Rye: My surname is Dolly, and I'm close relatives, so I know my dad is dead.
Satterfield: How old are you?
Rye: 17 years old.
Satterfield considered these words and didn't know what to do next.
Satterfield: Well, your father's bail is not enough. Your house and woodland are all added together and there is no way to repay it. It's still far away-----Do you know this?
Rye: I don't know anything. They told me later.
Satterfield: Well, he still lacks a lot of money. One night, a guy came to my office, took a sack of crumpled money, and put it there to cover the remaining bail money owed by your father. It seemed that someone needed him to show up as soon as possible.
Rye: Did the guy who gave the money leave a name?
Satterfield: Did not stay. Maybe he has his name on his underwear.
Gail looked over from the corridor, listening attentively to their conversation, looking worried, trying to understand the purpose of Satterfield's trip.
Rye: How long will we be kicked out?
Satterfield: I guess... I guess you can stay here for about a week. This is my guess.
Rye: One week? What else can I do?
Satterfield: No, there is nothing to do, the only thing that can be done is to prove that he is dead.
Satterfield turned around and yelled at the Golden Retriever and Milton the Catfish.
Satterfield: Catfish, Golden Retriever, are you two in trouble?
Jin Mao raised his middle finger at him. Satterfield got into the car and drove away. A calf auction is being held in the

cattle ring of the interior auction building
at this time during the day . The auctioneer kept yelling the price of a calf.
Rey walked in and she found Tupa Milton, 60 years old, in the crowd. After seeing Rey, Tupa got up and left. Rye followed him closely.

During the day,
Ruiyi walked carefully on the narrow suspended passage at the cowpen fence in the outside scene. The cowpen fence below constituted a huge maze in which she concentrated on looking for Tupa's figure.
The cows moo and moo, their voices are deafening.
In the end, Rey found Tupa. She tried to get Tupa's attention.
Rye (yelling loudly): Tupa Milton! I want to talk to you! Tupa Milton! Tupa Milton! Tupa!
Rye yelled desperately, competing with the noise of the cattle. Tupa Milton left quickly, and Rey ran down the narrow passage, following closely behind.

Exterior
view Tupa Milton's courtyard at dusk Rey walks across the courtyard toward Tupa Milton's house.
The door opened, and Mylab came out with a steaming glass.
She slammed the liquid from the cup on Rey, and then hit Rey’s face with the cup. At the same time, Alice and Tilly, the sisters of Marab, also came from the house. Rush out.
Rye yelled and fell to the ground.
Mailab: I told you to stay away from him.
Mylab and Alice grabbed Rey, Tilly led the way, and several people dragged her to the barn. Rey tried his best to resist.
Mylab: Hold on to her, Alice!
Alice (to Rye): Don't move!
The sisters grabbed Rye tightly and escorted her to the barn.
Mailab: This is the consequence of your disobedience.
Rye's scream cut through the sky, and the barn door slowly lowered.

Interior view The
fluorescent lights of Tupa Milton's barn at night glowed dimly, and Rey slowly regained consciousness. She saw the stiles on the roof of the warehouse, various metal tools, and several machines. Mailab stood beside her.
Mailab: I warned you. Tell you well, you don't listen to me ------ why don't you listen?
Rey spit a bloody tooth into the palm of his hand. She looked around and saw some people she didn't know who were looking at her quietly. Among those people, she saw little Arthur, Speed Milton, and Ray.
Megan stood beside Rey, and she bent down and stroked Rey's hair.
Megan: What are we going to do with you, little girl?
Rye: Kill me, I guess.
Megan: We thought about it. do you have anything else?
Rye: Help me. No one has said this before, right?
Megan: I wanted to help you before, but it turned out like this.
Tupa Milton walked into the barn and Megan stepped back.
He walked towards Rey, pinched her chin, checked the blood-stained face, and then glanced at Mailab.
Tupa Milton: Do you have anything to say, kid? If so, it's better to say it now.
Rey thought for a while, and she stared at Tupa.
Rye: My younger siblings are still under adulthood. Mother is a patient, and her illness will never be cured. Soon, the lawyers will come to my house, confiscated our house, drive us out of the house, and let us wander around like wild dogs.
Rey took a breath.
Rye: If my dad did something wrong, he has paid it back. No matter who killed him, I don't want to know. But if I don’t have a house, I can’t take care of my younger siblings and my mother.
There was silence all around. Tupa leaves the barn with Bobby. The hounds barked outside the barn, and the sound of the car's engine approached.
Speed Milton: Oh shit!
Ray wants to leave here.
Lei: I can't just wait and die like this.
Everyone heard the sound of closing the car door, and then heavy footsteps came along the gravel road. The barn door opened and Tildepp stood by the door.
Tildepp: Where is she?
Little Arthur: Don't get excited, Tildepp. We warned her more than once.
Tildeep stared at Rey, his expression unchanged, then turned to speak to Speed Milton.
Tildepp: Did you beat her?
Spider Milton stretched his hand to his back and fumbled for the pistol tucked in his pants.
Mailab walked towards Tildepp.
Mailab: Not him! The men have never touched this crazy girl. I did it. My sisters and I, they are all here.
Tupa Milton returned to the warehouse accompanied by Ray and Bobby. He stopped and kept an arm's distance from Tildepp.
Tildepp: Jessup always works hard with us. He understands and I understand that I don't want to disturb his muddy water at all. I don't want to know what happened to him. However, she is not my brother.
Tildepp looked around at the crowd gathered around him, and stared at Rey firmly before ending this sentence.
Tildepp: She is my only blood relative, so I came to her, took her away, and sent her home. Is it all right, Tupa?
Tupa Milton: You want to cover her, don't you?
Tildepp: If she did something wrong, you can come to me.
Rey realized how serious Tildeep was at this moment.
Tupa Milton: You will be responsible for her in the future.
Tildepp: This girl will be tight-lipped.
Tupa Milton: You guys help him. Carry her into the car.
Little Arthur and Speed Milton supported Rey, helped her out of the barn, and walked towards the car.
The rest of the family stood in the barn, watching Rey and Tildip drive away.

Tildepp's car at night
Tildepp drove Rey home at night . They parked the car in front of the house, but the two did not get out of the car. Tildepp tore a colorful silk bandanna and stuffed it into Rey's mouth.
Tildepp: Biting hard until it stops bleeding.
Rey bit the handkerchief.
In the car, it was dark and silent. Afterwards, Tildepp said frankly to Rey.
Tildepp: Your dad can't face this final blow, can't face ten years of prison life. He started making deals with the damned policeman.
Tildepp took a mouthful of cigarettes.
Tildepp: You have to listen to me now. clear? They waited for me to see if I would take any action. They will observe us. Can't let me know who killed my brother. Even if you find that person, never let me know who did it. If I knew it, I would be braided soon. clear?
Rey stretched out his arms and hugged Tildeep's shoulders.

At night,
Gail walked out of the room and ran to the car. Ashley and Sonny followed behind her, standing in the corridor watching.
Gale and Tildeep helped Rey out of the car, and they carried her towards the house, and Sonny was squeezed aside.
Gail (to Sonny): Don't get in the way, open the door.
Tildepp closed the door and stayed in the corridor.

Rye rinsed his mouth and vomited a lot of blood into the sink. She sat down exhausted and looked at Gail gratefully.
Rye: Thank you.

Interior view of Ruiyi's bedroom at night

Sonia walked in.
Sonia: I just found out. I got some medicine for you.
Sonia handed Gail a plastic bottle.
Sonia: It's a painkiller. Strong medicine. It doesn't hurt soon after eating. Take two slices at first.
Gail: Okay.
Sonia: She may need a lot, but at the beginning, just two pieces, and then add them slowly. Anyway, just let her fall asleep.
Rye: Thank you.
Sonia left.
Gail handed a glass of water to Rey's mouth and asked her to swallow the pill.
Rye: Will you leave when I fall asleep?
Gail: Of course, I will.
Rye: But you still have to watch them do their homework.
Gail: No problem.

Ashley: Does your arm hurt?
Rye: It doesn't hurt, it's okay.
Rey then fell asleep again.

Interior view of Ruiyi's bedroom. At night,
Ruiyi woke up from her dream, and Ashley and Sonny lay beside her and fell asleep.

During the day in the corridor of Ruiyi's house,
Ruiyi and Gail, who was holding the baby, stood in the corridor, and Sonny and Ashley were playing on the trampoline.
Gail took care of little Ned. Rye, with an anxious and depressed expression, looked at her younger siblings.
Rye: Brand Milton said he and Sonia wanted to take Sonny away. Did I tell you about this? They want to raise him for me.
Gail: Does he know? Sonny?
Rye: We haven't told him. If he knows, it must be nonsense that others have told him, because I will never tell him. He didn't even know about his father making drugs.
Gal: Yeah, if you ask them to raise Sonny, they can help you too. Where is Ashley?
Rye and Gail glanced at the two children who were playing again.
Rye: They are not interested in her.
Gail: So what do you do?
Rye: I beg Victoria and Tildepp to take in Ashley.
Gail: Oh my god, I don't want this to be true, sweet bean. Hope it won't be like this.

The
military recruiter of the Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps classroom of the Interior School during the day , Sergeant Schalke, 30 years old, stretched out his hand to shake hands with the student who had just been interviewed.
Sergeant Schalke: Nice to meet you. Have a nice day, goodbye?
Student: Thank you.
Sergeant Schalke beckoned Rey to come.
Schalke: Hi, hello, I am Sergeant Schalke.
Rye: My name is Rye Dolly.
Sergeant Schalke: Nice to meet you. Why did you sign up today, Rye?
Rye: I think if I join the army, I can get more than $40,000 in enlistment fees.
Schalke: Well, yes, but why not give me a better reason. Once you join the army, you won’t be able to look back. Forty thousand dollars may not be worth it.
Rye: The main reason is that I need this money. Of course, this is also a good trip.
Schalke: Five years is not short.
Rye: So, how long will it take to get the money?
Schalke: After signing the contract, we will pay the money for about 14 to 82 weeks.
Rye: Oh, why didn't it say on the poster?
Schalke: It may be a clerical error, or I didn't intend to write it up at all. It may also be printed in the small print at the bottom of the poster. If you don’t mind, I want to ask you, what’s the matter with your eyes and lips?
Rye: I fell off the bike.
Schalke: Falling? How old are you?
Rye: 17.
Schalke: 17 years old. Well, if you really want to join the army, you must ask your parents to come over, okay?
Rye: I can call the shots by myself.
Schalke: Not at the age of 17. The United States law stipulates that the age of 17 is still a minor. You can sign by yourself only if you are over 18 years old. Is it difficult for your parents to come here? I mean, I can go to your house ------
Rui Yi: Mom is sick. Dad passed away.
Schalke: Then can you do it for you if you have a brother or sister?
Rye: I only have a 12-year-old brother and a 6-year-old little sister.
Schalke: Who is taking care of them now?
Rye: Me.
Schalke: You? This is why you need forty thousand dollars?
Rye: Yes.
Schalke: It seems that staying at home is already a big challenge, not to mention that you have to take care of your younger siblings. You know, if you participate in training, you can't take care of them, right?
Rye: I think maybe I can do it.
Schalke: It's impossible. If you are really called into the army, you will never be with them. Once you join the army and go to war, who will take care of them?
Rye was silent.
Schalke: So you are still at home now, it also requires a lot of perseverance and courage, but I think this is just your status quo. right? Maybe things will turn around next year. You should figure out what you need, okay? Don't decide lightly, don't just for money. You need a good reason to join the army, okay?
Rye: Good.
Schalke: Okay. Nice to meet you.
Rye: Me too.
Schalke: Have a nice day.
Rye: Thank you.
They stood up and shook hands. Rye leaves.

Tildepp: Fuck your mother! You bullshit, inferior trash!
Ray: I don't know where he is.
Tildepp: I will tell you now that things will get worse when I come again next time.
Tildepp left. Ray shouted loudly behind him.
Ray: Really? You'd better stay away from this matter, brother. Believe me. If you come back again, you will be violently beaten.
Tildepp: Really?
Lei: Just wait and see.
Tildeep walked towards the back of the car. Rey sat in the front seat of the car and saw him take an axe out of the trunk.
Rye (talking to herself): What are you doing?
Tildepp smashed the windshield of Lei's car with his axe. Rey flinched, not wishing to see Tildeep make crazy moves.

County Sheriff Baskin: It's not about you. You didn't cause trouble. It's about your brother.
Tildepp stared at Baskin's figure in the rearview mirror.
Tildepp: No. No matter what you say tonight, I won't do it.
Tildepp reached for the shotgun.
County Sheriff Baskin: Get out of the car and put your hand where I can see it. Hurry up and come out.
Tildepp: Why are you going to denounce him? Why? After you went, he was killed. Are you happy now?
After listening to his accusation, Baskin and Rye showed different expressions on their faces. Baskin looked at Rey nervously, took out a pistol from the holster and hit the body, trying to win back control.
Sheriff Baskin: I know you. Get to know your family. Now, get off.
Tildepp picked up his shotgun and placed it on the open car window, staring at Baskin in the side mirror.
Baskin became more disturbed, and he glanced at Rye again.
Tildepp: Now it's our turn?
Tildepp and Baskin looked at each other's eyes in the mirror. Baskin stepped back slowly, waving his flashlight in his hand.
Tildepp started the engine, and Baskin used his flashlight to illuminate Rye in the car. Tildepp drove away, leaving Baskin alone by the roadside.

Tildepp: He loves you very much. This is his weakness.

Tildepp: Most of us are very cold, so cold that we can continue in this business.
Rye: But never inform.
Tildepp: He hasn't done this for many, many years. He never did it, never did it! But one day he did it anyway.
