The film tells the story of a couple walking out of the shadow of losing their child together

Becca and Howey are a loving middle-class couple, have a lovely son, and live a happy and comfortable life. But one day, an accident took their son away. Since then, everything has been fragmented. One is trying to pretend that nothing happened, but he can't forget the scene of witnessing his son's death. Since they fell in love with each other, they began to blame each other, hurt each other, and couldn't forgive each other, let alone themselves.

Becca loses Danny. That's a huge sadness. Becca couldn't express it directly. So the important people around you become an alternative outlet. A pregnant sister, a mother who has also experienced bereavement, and a stranger in the supermarket who is the mother of a child. The mother refused her child's request and was inexplicably slapped by Becca.

For 8 months, husband Howey watched his son's videos on his mobile phone in the middle of the night, participated in group mutual aid therapy, was unwilling to throw away the child seat in the back seat of the car, and refused to change the decoration of the children's room; while his wife Becca was afraid of touching the scene. Injury, I want to erase all the memories of my son at home, give away the clothes my son wears, withdraw from group therapy, do not attend family gatherings with children, organize all my son's toys in the basement, and even want to put the house sell....

The mutual aid club was filled with parents who had lost their children just like them; the Asian couple had been in group mutual aid therapy for eight years, but they still could not accept the loss and finally chose to separate.

Becca meets Jensen, the high school student responsible for the accident, and she tells him - it's not anyone's fault. She relieved her inner pain by letting the child in front of her come out of guilt and self-blame. Jensen, a teenage cartoonist, was driving a sharp turn to avoid a dog. Accident happened.

During the exchange, Becca poured her thoughts about her son Danny on Jensen, and she and Jensen developed a subtle affection. Meanwhile, Becca's husband, Howie, has his own way of dealing with grief.

A father discovers a network of intertwined burrows that lead to another parallel plane, and when the father dies, the child goes down that rabbit hole to find the father.

Howey is addicted to marijuana and alcohol; they try to communicate, and when Becca accidentally deletes his son's video, Howie weeps in despair, hysterical, and rants echo through the small kitchen repeatedly into anger. At this time, Becca discovered that it was not only herself who was sad. When she was blindly immersed in her own sadness, Howe, who had always been strong, was actually more vulnerable than herself and had nowhere to escape.

Howe couldn't understand, he yelled for Jensen to get out, but Becca watched his cartoons with Jensen - it was a parallel world where everything was quiet and peaceful and everything was in order, just like Becca. Ka's monologue - somewhere, we're still celebrating. This is their rabbit hole. They hide their pain here.

When she saw Jensen go to a wedding as the best man, Becca finally cried. No one knew why she was so sad, but she did cry a lot. After crying, she fell asleep. Now, in front of Jensen's house, in her car.

Howie also slept, and when he got home and saw that the house was empty, he thought he had lost Becca, he fell asleep in Danny's cot, in the room where Danny's traces had been erased Fell asleep.

When they woke up, they both felt they had to do something. "What are we going to do next?"

Becca's mother lost her son 11 years ago when she accompanied Becca after she put Danny's belongings in the pantry

"It's over?" Becca asked. "No. It's still there. But something will change."

Grief changes, but it doesn't go away. What happened has happened, and refusing to face reality can only make it more difficult for me.

"What are we going to do next?"

Becca and Howe chose to face each other. Face the people and things that have escaped for 8 months.

The two resumed their daily social interactions and took the initiative to contact their friends who turned their faces; they invited their friends to have dinner together; they went to the toy store to buy toys for their friends' daughters;

During the dinner, politely greet each other's children; when someone mentions Danny, instead of avoiding it, you can chat a few words...

"And then what?"

"Don't know, but something always happens."

Becca reached out and took Howe.

  • Nat: You know, Becca, when your brother died, I found the church very helpful.

Becca: I know. I know you did, but that's you. That's not me, and Danny... Danny isn't Arthur.

Nat: You know, I brought you to church every Sunday.

Becca: Let's not start this again, okay, Mom? I'm just... I'm just calling about the cake.

Nat: You're not right about everything, you know? What if there is a God?

Becca: Then I'd say he's a sadistic prick.

Nat: All right, Becca, that's enough.

Becca: "Worship me and I'll treat you like shit." No wonder you like him. He sounds just like Dad.
