Dorian was right, he just did what Henry had in mind but dared not do.

I lived the life you preached but never dared practise!

Of course, it wouldn't be a good outcome to wait for Dorian to end him, but that's the fate a class of people chooses for themselves. Life goes on again, the choice will not change.

Henry and Dorian actually represent two types of people:

Henry/The first type of person: Some things may be just for jokes, not for doing.

Men in most parts of the world seem to like to talk, to make things more exaggerated, to make themselves very NB, and then let women and other men bow down to their NB. Henry is such a person.

And these people who like to talk and listen to others talk, most of them continue to return to reality after the criticism is finished, continue to live with that not-so-beautiful wife, continue to work, and continue to complain. This can be said to be a kind of numbness and surrender to the status quo. But perhaps, life is like this. This kind of "restriction" brings a sense of security and stability from another perspective, and it is an optimal living state for many people.

Dorian/Type II: When they're paranoid, or perfectionist, or they're just stubborn and simple to live out what they believe in. So Dorian went to practice, and he got the ultimate pleasure, and finally got self-destruction.

Dorian was of the second kind, and Wilde was of the second kind. Just like the plot in the book, Wilde knew that his life would be as violent and beautiful as a flame, but those who play with fire would eventually set themselves on fire, and his life would be a tragic destruction.

However, for Wilde, if his life came again, he would still choose this path - sad and tragic but extremely beautiful. Life must burn with a hard flame!
