Compared with other confined space horror movies, the devil in the elevator is mixed with other factors. He is not talking about how brutal and inhumane a murderer is, nor is he talking about the devil’s revenge. Even the Bowden policeman said at the beginning that he When his wife and children died 5 years ago, I thought it was just a line.
What really surprised me was when the last old woman stood up, and after Tony, the man who ran into Bowden’s wife and children five years ago, confessed his crime to the walkie-talkie, the old woman People stared at him for a long, long time, and then said, I really wish to do that (kill you). With the darkness of the whole building, she disappeared. The demon disappeared.
Many people wonder why some other people in the elevator need to die. Maybe it's not that they need to be killed, but that they need to be reborn and need to face the dark side of their bodies and hearts. This is just a movie, and it just uses death to show that they need to be punished when they do things that go against their conscience and morals and remain calm.
Finally, when the policeman Bowden was about to send Tony home, I thought the devil was attached to Bowden. It's just that I really didn't expect that, he looked at Tony in the rearview mirror and said, I forgive you. The voice over said that every time my mother told me those (devil's) stories, she would comfort us, boy, don't worry, if the devil is real, then God is also real. (Don't worry, she'd say, if the devil is real, then God must be real too.) Then the whole city restored its calm and bright appearance.
I was shocked by the last sentence. I am not Christian, but I believe that the devil does not only refer to the real demon, and God does not only refer to that God. The devil is dark and evil, which is why every time a person in the elevator is killed, he is in the dark, and God is bright and righteous, which is why everything is normal after the old woman disappears.
The security guard who saw the face of the devil appear on the elevator monitoring screen said that it was the behavior of those people that caused them to encounter the devil. Without external force, everything is in everyone's heart. Even if he doesn't say it, even if the world doesn't know it, the devil knows that the dark moment hidden in his heart makes him uneasy and fearful. But when a person bravely faces a mistake he/she made unintentionally, and can't make up for it but bravely assumes responsibility, the demon in his heart returns to his/her original position without interruption or fright. What he/she does is to silently pay attention to you, and take care of the darkness and evil in your heart for you.
So don't be afraid, if the devil is real, then God must be real too.
