Synopsis
Mike (Jeff Bridges) is a university history professor who lives with his nine-year-old son Glenn.
His wife, an FBI agent, was killed in a case not long ago, which was a big blow to Mike.
Because of an accident, Mike, who was driving home, saved the neighbor's child, Brady.
This brings him to Brady's father, an architect Oliver (Tim Robbins), and the two become good friends.
Not only do they occasionally eat together, but two children of similar age often play together.
One time at Oliver's house, Mike happened to see the drawings he designed and felt very strange.
Because Oliver claims that his project is to design a shopping center, but the drawings are similar to office buildings.
The lie caught Mike's attention, and he became suspicious of the neighbor.
So he secretly investigated Oliver and found that the neighbor even changed his name.
But when he told his friend Brooke all this, he was ignored. After all, changing his name and telling a little lie was not a big deal.
However, Mike did not stop his investigation, he even sneaked into Oliver's house to search for clues when he was not at home.
Although nothing was achieved, Mike did not give up.
Finally, he found out about Oliver's case through his original name. It turned out that he was arrested at the age of 16 for making dynamite, which surprised Mike.
He began to suspect that Oliver made the drawings of those office buildings in order to blow up some places.
At this time, Mike's investigation caught Oliver's attention, and he took the initiative to find Mike to talk.
He admits he made mistakes when he was young, but has always wanted to make a change, so he changed his name.
The sincere words moved Mike, and he began to wonder if he was really wrong.
But at this time, Mike's friend Brooke died in a car accident, and the whole thing became confusing again...
Video Analysis
It's a very good movie. I think its goodness lies in the design of the thriller atmosphere and the sublimation of the ending, plus there are enough excellent actors to join, it is worth watching. The rhythm of the film is not fast, especially the first half, it is not catchy enough, it is only supported by a weak point of suspense, but as the plot deepens, the climax of the film grows longer, until it finally reaches a peak.
Perhaps in the process of watching this movie, we will think of countless endings, such as traditional Hollywood heroism, such as misunderstandings supported by human nature, but we never expected that the ending would be like this. It echoes the beginning, explains some of the previous questions, and points to the question.
Of course, compared to other good films of the same type, "Invulnerable" still has many shortcomings, especially the character settings that are deliberately set to match the plot. For example, the FBI, I believe that those who can enter that institution must be intelligent and brave, but what is shown in the film, except for amateurs, is a worrying IQ, which is completely unable to reach the professional level that should be in reality.
On the contrary, our male protagonist Mike, he is careful enough and courageous enough, except that he stepped into the trap of the enemy because of his son, he has almost done everything that an ordinary person can do. If the screenwriter wants to write him as a hero, he only needs to change the ending slightly. , completely acceptable, but obviously this ending is more shocking now.
"The heart of harming others is indispensable, and the heart of preventing others is indispensable." We do not harm others, but we must always be vigilant. Brooke in the film is a typical example. She is very kind. From the beginning, she chose to completely believe the Oliver couple. She didn't pay attention to the doubts Mike told her. She had to see it with her own eyes to believe it, but then It's too late.
"It's hard to draw a dragon and draw a tiger, it's hard to draw a bone, you know the face, but you don't know the heart" , we can believe that there are many good people in the world, but there are always some bad people who try their best to deceive you and harm you, often these people are hidden in a beautiful inside the sac. So since we can't see people's hearts through the outside, we need to be more open-minded in the process of making friends, don't be sold and still help others count the money.
"The intention of harming others is indispensable, and the heart of defending others is indispensable." When facing new friends, please maintain your vigilance, otherwise you may not even notice if you are used .
