Out of five stars, I give this show four and a half stars, with half a star deducted from the plot design.
I finished watching this drama in one night and one noon. Each episode is only 30 minutes long, and there are only ten episodes in total. Compared with the "Wise Doctor's Life" that I have been chasing for nearly two hours in front of my time, it is really good. is very short. But maybe because of the length of time, the director wants to talk too much, which makes the echoes of some plots too blunt. As long as the previous ones are mentioned, the foreshadowing in the subsequent plots will definitely be explained intact. enough surprises. Moreover, as an American youth comedy, the plot setting is a bit out of the way. For example, when Victor went to work in a coffee shop, he could meet Benji, who he liked, as the deputy store manager there. Felix went to Lake's house and her mother came back early. Well, Victor and Benji just happened to be seen by Mia during the kiss...so these plot designs won't convince me, I'll feel like I'm watching a drama and not fully immersed in it.
Enough said, let's compliment this drama. First of all, superficially speaking, the appearance of the boys in this show is really worthless. Benji is my favorite American boy. I thought I didn’t like the kind of Latina, but the male protagonist’s daily life Dressing up is very comfortable, and as soon as I put on a suit, it gives me a very sexy feeling, and I can freely switch between pure and sexy styles, which still amazes me.
The second is authenticity, which mainly reflects the male protagonist Victor's exploration of his own sexual orientation and his approach to dealing with feelings. I saw a comment that Victor was a scumbag, and he was dating Mia even though he knew he liked guys, but I don't think so. In reality, many behaviors cannot be generalized with one scumbag. The male protagonist is still in the Teenager period. Even if he vaguely feels that he may like boys, but he was born in a traditional religious family and he is not ready to accept it. So he was exploring, and in the process of exploring, he hoped that he liked girls like most other boys, and he was really attracted to Mia, but slowly he found that he admired Mia, liked it, but not sexual aspect of attraction. It had been clear from the time he refused Mia's request to go further with him, even if he made an excuse he wasn't ready for. And when Victor chose to cheat on Mia in order to spend the night with Benji, I believe he was ready to give up his relationship with Mia and look into his heart (so this is a piece of advice for girls, when your boyfriend starts to refuse Your invitation, find various reasons not to go on a date with you, even if he apologizes later, don't believe it, behavior can't deceive people). If this drama is filmed from Mia's perspective, Victor is the close-in boyfriend who cheated on her feelings, because he is just a passer-by in her life, and the meaning of his existence is to give Mia pain and grow. Facts and human nature are often not so easy to distinguish and judge, and we cannot easily condemn a person to death because what we see is too one-sided. So looking at this Victor with such an eye, what I see is an adolescent boy who is confused about his sexuality but still tries to find out and finally dares to accept himself.
The second point of authenticity is reflected in Victor's indecision in dealing with his feelings. I can understand Victor's entanglement and procrastination. He wants to cause as little harm to others as possible, because he is afraid of hurting his family, because he is afraid of hurting his family. After he speaks out, the existing calm will be broken, because he clearly knows that as long as he speaks out, he will not be able to return to the past. But I didn't expect that the way I dealt with it caused the most damage. Victor has never been a perfect image, and there are countless shadows of adolescents trying to find themselves in him. He could have made a better choice. He was rational enough, but he still failed to restrain his impulse at a critical moment and hurt the person he didn't want to hurt. Anyway, I'm still quite optimistic about this drama, and I look forward to the development of the second season.
