Buster Keaton is known as the "cold-faced comedian", and the character he plays has a look of indifference, but the audience leans back. Perhaps Keaton's characters are too "serious" for the circumstances to make him anxious in any way - even natural and man-made disasters, storms and rolling stones. Keaton's little people are often single-strands, doing simple tasks without feeling boring, but they often invite misfortune. This is a movie that catches up with time, and it is so sad at the end, of course, comedy can still live up to its expectations.
