fun games

I watched a magical film called "Fun Games", Michael Haneke's remake of his 1997 film. Uninvited, two seemingly polite, restrained and shy young men killed one by one after blaspheming and insulting the family of three. They enjoy this brutal and perverted behavior very much, and they are also called "fun games". I began to feel that this was a black farce in which the director teased the audience from the fact that the bad guy frequently asked questions outside the camera before each attack. Time and again to test the audience's bottom line, and you are still interested in not pressing the pause button, bearing the negative emotions caused by the pain and resentment of your heart, and the purpose of gritting your teeth is to expect a "beautiful" reverse ending. And he just let you down, and you can't find a place to vent. This is the bad fun game the director wants to play. The plot inside is almost completely unconventional, and in a movie full of violence, there are no nobles, no heroes, and no hope is given. Even the only Jedi counterattack in which the hostess was put to death and then survived, before the audience had time to applaud, was saved by the bad guys in the form of "rewinding". What, rewind? That's right, rewind. This kind of unreasonable, super-magic and unrealistic setting, I am afraid you and I will look at each other in dismay. The director clearly didn't want to arrange a normal ending, or even a normal story. Sometimes it can even be felt that the director is standing on the other side of the screen and laughing at us maliciously and triumphantly. This is not a simple anti-mainstream movie of "good people don't live long, bad people scourge millennia", he uses an almost nonsensical absurdity to outline the darkest and feared side of our hearts. Pleasure sometimes needs to accumulate in order to achieve explosive comfort. The audience is accustomed to Hollywood-style routines, the protagonists are bullied, and the crazy revenge after the pain of taking their wives and killing their children. Here, it not only satisfies the bloodthirsty nature of the audience, but also hides it with the aura of the avengers of "doing justice for the heavens, evil will be punished". Do you want to see bloody things? You want to see the heroine stripped and humiliated, right? Well, let you watch, but the ending won't let you cool. From this, I fell into the director's trap. It turned out that it was me who led this murderous case. Even the bad guys turned their heads over and over to ask you, is that enough? But you are reluctant to give up. It's not the bad guy who is holding the remote control the whole time, it's you. As a result, we were like the heroine who tied her hands and gagged her mouth, and sank into the bottom of the lake without saying a word.

Funny Games quotes

  • Paul: So, what do you want to do? You want to call someone? An ambulance, or the police? I won't stop you. Neither will Tom. Right, Tom? Well, what are you waiting for?

  • Paul: Okay, let's play another game. It's a guessing game.

[Paul takes out a golf ball]

    Paul: What is this?

[Paul drops the ball on the floor]

    Paul: [to George] Sir?

    George: It's a golf ball.

Paul: Correct! It's a *golf* ball... But why do I have it in my pocket? Hm? The lady knows why. Because... Well?

    [Paul, exasperated, turns to Peter]

    Paul: Well?

Peter: Because you didn't hit it.

Paul: Correct! Because I didn't hit it! And *why* didn't I hit it?

    Peter: Because something stopped you.

Paul: Correct. Because I had to test the club in another way.

Anna: [realizing what has happened] Where is he?
