"Sweet November" tells a poignant love story. The male protagonist Nelson is a famous designer of an advertising company, but because he is busy with his work, he neglects his girlfriend, which leads to emotional breakdown. Misfortunes do not come singly, the new advertising plan he worked so hard to prepare failed, and he fell into a trough in his career. At this time, a girl named Sarah broke into Nelson's life after a driver's license test, which also brought him a change.
Sarah invites Nelson to live together for a month, for a life makeover, and breaks up when the time comes. And when Nelson accepted the invitation, he gradually felt the joy of life. During the month, Nelson rediscovered the world under Sarah's leadership, helping others walk their dogs by the sea, taking the boy who lost his dad to a sailing race, and attending a transvestite neighbor's house dinner. After Nelson gradually discovers the meaning of life and falls in love with Sarah, he discovers the heart-wrenching truth that Sarah is terminally ill and has no time to spare. Finally, at Sarah's insistence, they said their final goodbyes in a hide-and-seek way. Sarah left Nelson's life, leaving his impression of her at the best of times.
From the script, the story has some narrative imperfections. For example, the scene where the two meet is the driver's license test. But as a patient with little time and no car of her own, Sarah's motivation for taking her driver's license was not clear enough. In addition, the male protagonist Nelson's attitude towards Sarah has changed from disgust at the beginning to love, which is not reasonable enough to pave the way for this change.
From the actors' point of view, the two leading actors Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron contributed extremely good performances. They show different character states at different psychological stages of the characters, and describe the psychological transformation of the characters very delicately.
From the perspective of picture design, the picture design of the warm part in the first half of the film is biased towards warm colors. This kind of picture makes the audience and the hero be moved by the details of life together. When it came to the highlight of the two people's parting, the picture suddenly turned into a cool tone dominated by blue and gray. This scene seems to be on a cloudy day and it is about to rain, which makes the atmosphere even more sad.
This is a story about life and living. Sarah took Nelson to find life, but was destined not to accompany him through the rest of his life.
