This is my first review of movie in English. Recently, I have watched more than 100 movies, of which worthy of time is few. I like this movie Indeed Proposal, released in 1993.
Three roles played the truth of reality, which likes those photos in the movie. Those recorded the beautiful days, however, the cracks existed once they had been tore up.
A married couple, Diana and David, are struggling to build their own house together. Due to financial issue, they fail it, in the meantime, the house is mortgaged by bank. They try their luck in Las Vegas, where they run into a billionaire, John, he is attracted by Diana at a lobby shop. He flirts her through buying a dress for her, but she declines with a word “the dress for sale, but I am not”. John, a natural gambler, is interested in winning back of the game. He gives the couple a fat offer, 1 million dollars for one night with Diana. Initially, they refuse him immediately, but they consider the pros and cons, and decide to accept the offer finally. Diana's taken to a private yacht, and spends one night with John. When she's back, the crack is generated between them. Insecure David begins to doubt Diana loyalty, and insults her verbally.The tension gradually destroys their trust of each other. Moreover, elegant John renews the relationship with Diana by all means, though she hates him at the beginning. David cheers up and starts a new life positively. John is a good storyteller, and she is touched by his regret. Nevertheless, Diana and David recognize they are the true couple, John reads it as well. John releases her, and the couple reconcile.
I am moved by Diana, who is a beautiful woman. She loves her husband unconditionally, and lives a happy life. She and he apply the offer, which makes them different. Diana hopes that can help them out with her sacrifice, ironically like Ball of Fat, who's abandoned after saving people. Diana deserves much better, but she upholds her integrity. David strives for a better life, but gamble is not one option, as a Chinese saying, “nine failures out of ten games”. Meanwhile, he shouldn't involve his wife into a deadly offer.
John thinks money can buy everything, only the sky is the ceiling. He is a full of humor person, and tries to challenge any impossibility. In china, one phrase comes from a classical book named All Men Are Brothers, “Pan Lv Deng Xiao Xian”, among of Pan, is referring to Pan An, a good-looking guy; of Lv, is a donkey, which is a symbol of strong sex power; of Deng is Deng Tong, a richest man; of Xiao, is referring to treat female in a careful manner; of Xian, means that a man has enough spare time to accompany lover. If a man has the five features, he can conquer any girl's love. John just matches the above, but Diana is an exception. John is a gentleman, when he understands the meaning of her eyesight, he lets her go as a real man.
When David fell down in the heavy rain, I remember a song of Adu named “Tearing Night”, David saw her husband with helplessness. Life is tough, once you miss at a cross, it takes long time to return, and maybe it is a price of love.
I have a story like John's, which took place decades ago. One day, I took bus to my hometown with a friend. On the way, a pretty girl got on, initially, I had no notice with her, but her turned around many times, finally she sat next to me and want to speak to me, though many seats were vacant. Till to the station, I did nothing with seeing her away. Afterwards, I guessed she had a huge courage to do that as a girl, but I missed her kindness, maybe it made sense, who known.
“All people are created equal” is not correct, just like “All roads lead to Rome”, but someone lives in Rome. In the movie, David explains that “a brick wants to be something”, which reflects the meaning of reality. We all like bricks, few of which are for skyscrapers, some even are for restrooms. However, we don't need to regret, because it is life. I saw many ordinary people who lived various lives in the movie. For instance, the Lawyer tries his best to protect his client's benefit with a kind heart. The assistant of John helps his boss weave a story to relieve Diana. The Cook of casino mere shakes her head when the couple prepare to put them all for gamble.
I like the words from Diana, "If you want something very badly, set it free. If it comes back to you, it's yours forever. If it doesn't, it was never yours to begin with". However, I never do it as said, if I have it, I never let it go.
