Synopsis

Famous detective Poirot (Albert Finney) travels to London on official business.

Arranged by his old friend Bianchi (Martin Balsam) , he boarded the Orient Express to London.

In addition to him, there were more than a dozen passengers on the train, many of them rich and powerful.

The next morning, Poirot is stopped by Ratchett (Richard Widmark), a wealthy American businessman, while dining in the dining car .

He claims to have received anonymous letters with death threats .

So he hopes to hire Poirot as his personal bodyguard at a high price .

Poirot, however, expressed no interest in the matter and declined the offer.

At night, the passengers in the car had fallen asleep, and Poirot was getting ready to rest.

Suddenly I heard a man shouting in the private room next door .

He opened the door and found that the call was coming from Ratchett's room next door, and Pierre the conductor was knocking on the door to ask about the situation.

Someone in the room replied, claiming that it was just a nightmare. Seeing this, Poirot went back to the room and continued to rest.

But after a while, there was another sound in the hallway.

Poirot was very angry. After opening the door, he saw a woman in a white nightgown leaving in a hurry.

After that, the interior of the carriage returned to a state of silence.

It was almost midnight, and the train was forced to stop in Yugoslavia due to heavy snow accumulation.

The next day, Ratchett's entourage brought him breakfast as usual.

After a long knock on the door but no answer, Poirot realized that something was wrong, and he told Pierre to open the door with the key.

After entering the door, everyone was stunned. Ratchett was shot with dozens of knives and died in the private room.

Bianchi, the director of the Orient Express, did not want his passengers to be questioned by the police, so he commissioned Poirot to investigate the case.

So Poirot called everyone together and began to take turns asking.

In the process, he discovers that everyone seems to have a motive for committing crimes...

Video Analysis

The film is adapted from Agatha Christie 's novel of the same name, and it is also the first version of the work after it was filmed. The actor who played Poirot in the film, Albert Finney, was considered by Agatha to be the closest to the original Poirot image , but he refused to act in subsequent works due to the trouble of putting on makeup (it is reported that he needed to make up for several hours at the time). , and in 1978 "The Massacre on the Nile" Poirot starring was replaced by Peter Ustinov . The two have completely different images and styles, but the latter is obviously more popular with the audience.

The choice of actors in the group is very important, and there are also some famous Hollywood stars in the film. Martin Balsam, who played Bianchi, has participated in famous movies such as "The Witness for the Prosecution" and "Psycho", and Sean Connery, who played Colonel Albersnow, has starred in "Breaking the Dead". Island", McQueen's actor Anthony Perkins' performance in "Psycho" is impressive, and Olsen's actor is the famous Ingrid Bergman , who also played the role of the film. The wonderful performance in the film, won the Oscar supporting actress, how many people recognize it?

If you watch a lot of detective movies and TV series, you will find that the general routine is the same, so if you want to become a classic, you must have something different . For example, in the cases in "Detective Conan" and "Youth Bao Qingtian", we will find that most of the victims are extremely evil people, while the murderer is a person whose nature is not too bad but is forced to be helpless. "The Massacre on the Nile", the victim in this work is not a real villain, so the anti-type is easier to be remembered.

In most reasoning stories, in order to create suspense, the most inconspicuous person is often the criminal , or the person who seems to be motivated is generally innocent, but after seeing a lot of such works, we can quickly guess. to the murderer. "Murder on the Orient Express" did the opposite and was a big surprise to us, so that's one of the reasons it's a classic.

The deceased in the film naturally deserves what he deserves. His sins have caused so many families to grieve for a long time. He deserves such a trial. I even think that the pain he suffered is far less than the pain he caused others. But between justice and law, should we choose the so-called justice? This is what this story brings to our minds.

I think the cause of this case is why such a heinous man can still get away with all this he shouldn't have, so if one day, with the efforts of all, the law will be perfected to the point where all criminals are If you can get the punishment you deserve, then justice and law will no longer be multiple-choice questions .

"A cruel murderer was brutally murdered, maybe he deserved it", but we would like to see him be severely punished by the law.
