The main thread is about how to make a story. The Story Train was invented by the people of the Citedal of Ricks, possibly by the evil Morty for mind control, the details are unclear.
Watch the train to experience the story. There are many story themes in Story Train, such as girlfriend theme, Rick enemy theme, Christmas theme, etc. But no matter what the topic, the story is horribly made up. It doesn't matter, anyway, the real story that the story train is trying to tell is that Rick and Morty see themselves in the story and try to escape.
The ticket seller (tickets please guy) is sucked out of the train which reduces the continuity of the story. And the two enforcers directly burst the "continuity" jar, allowing Rick and Morty to travel through the scene.
As for why the grandfather and grandson must walk outside the car, Rick's answer is to accept the trial and pay a high price to reach a certain threshold. Before going outside the car, Morty asked, to the effect: this thing is getting more and more meta, and I don't like it very much. Rick's opinion: we have to follow the script.
The grandfather and grandson meet the seal outside the car, and Morty must tell a story unrelated to the theme to break the seal. Morty tells a terrible story, but it goes well with the adventure theme. Rick suggested applying the Bechdel test, a measure of whether a story is feminist. The criteria are: there are two women talking, they both have names, and the content of the conversation has nothing to do with men. So Morty tells an even worse story about how Summer and her mother used menstruation to kill female scorpions. Note that Summer was mailed by a female doctor, so there is no male (lll¬ω¬). Rick praised it as a feminist masterpiece. The seal was broken because the story was out of tune with the theme.
Then they met the big boss Storylord. Story kings are going to draw their stories to break through the fifth wall (who knows what the fifth wall is). As a result, we saw Rick and Morty's future candidates, including Summer going to college, Adolph Lincoln, Rick Morty and snowball vs. Tammy and Dath Vader Birdman. The evil Morty also appears in the back to fight Rick and Morty with Bidda and Morty's sons. Maybe this is breaking the fifth wall. Finally Rick introduced Jesus to save the crisis. The story train stopped because the stories with Jesus were bad.
Finally Rick broke the fourth wall again and told us to spend more when the virus is rampant.
To sum it up is what the hell is this episode, telling a story about a "metanarrative". Rick, who was trapped in the story train, madly broke the fourth wall knowing that he was in the story, but the whole story was still going according to the narrative principle. E03 is a deconstruction of heist movies, E05 is a deconstruction of time-travel movies, and this episode is a deconstruction of narrative principles. How to deconstruct love is up to you, we can get all the nihilism and deconstruction that Rick and Morty want to express. Or trouble to tell a story that can be understood once, so that everyone can save time.
This season is still my favorite episode of the luxury toilet.
PS The screenwriter is being too cunning. The audience watched the trailer and thought that the evil Morty, Bird and Tammy would appear in the next 5 episodes, but the screenwriter did the opposite, and the melon eaters were slapped in the face.
