· Six steps of totalitarianism
1. Build a system of tactile materials. 【Everything in the courtyard wall】
2. Let all external things be explained in the system. 【Airplane; Outside the Wall-Brother; Zombie; Bitch...】
3. Build fear/mystery. [The horror of the outer world; cats]
4. Build the privilege of dealing with fear/mystery → (Eternal Ruler). 【Canine teeth fall off; drive out; let fish catch fish】
5. Build fictional opponents → (eternal ruled). [Brother outside the wall; competition between three siblings]
6. Establish reward and punishment and other ritualized mechanisms. [Sulfuric acid in the mouth (?), reward plane, entertainment dominance, blindfolded mother game, wedding anniversary performance...]
· A few interesting details:
(1) The brother outside the wall.:
The setting of the elder brother has two effects on the establishment of ideology: a. [identical → highlighting the normality of the ideology itself] - There is nothing outside the wall, but just like inside the wall, another sibling lives. b. [Heterogeneous → highlighting the inner rank of ideology] Due to some special reasons, my brother cannot be reunited with his family, and can only stay outside alone.
The elder brother is an image. He is outside the wall, but he dissolves the mystery of the outside through the identity of his identity. And his heterogeneity can be used as a proof of the rule - as a negative example, he is excluded from "home", and "home" (inside the wall) means a high value.
The older brother is an object of projection. The boy ran to the fence and showed off his achievements with his brother (sweeping the carpet, etc.), but in the process of ridicule, he quarreled and threw stones at each other. The eldest sister secretly cut the cake and threw it to her brother. For the younger brother, the older brother is the only boy other than himself, a potential competitor. To my sister, my brother is an "ideal" brother who has never met.
(2) Put fish and catch fish. The father brought a few fish home and secretly put them into the swimming pool. The younger sister found the fish and reported to the father. The father went into the water to catch the fish in full force. In just over a minute, a typical mythical farce of the "ruler" was outlined.
(3) Anti-rules within the rules of ideology---the same "lie": the elder brother threw stones at the fence, claiming that "the elder brother threw it first"; the younger sister hit the elder brother with a hammer at night, saying "there is a stone The cat with the hammer came in, beat it, and ran away." Although it still uses the discourse of ideology, it has formed its own "writing".
The narrative of the film revolves around three aspects:
(1) The maintenance of ideology (the ruler's dominant perspective)
·Retranslation of language, painting of father's portrait. Blindfolded looking for mother. My sister trims my father's toenails. Let the fish catch the fish...
(2) Daily games (conscious domestication of the ruled)
Almost only physical games: hot water, anesthesia, blindfolds, swimming with artificial respiration...
(3) Sex (external sources)
(Personally, the design of sibling sex is a little too hard)
