Adapted from a true story, it depicts the story of an American prisoner who escaped from a prisoner-of-war camp with his ninth death. Although it is about the Vietnam War, it is different from the perspectives of the famous Vietnam War films "Apocalypse Now", "Platoon" and "The Deer Hunter", which use a large number of war scenes or characters' abnormal psychological behaviors to reflect the impact of war on people. Massive persecution of body and spirit, the anti-war theme is evident. The focus of this film seems to be talking about the power of insisting on beliefs, but if you chew it carefully, the film still reflects the atrocities of war from different aspects. A very realistic film, if you don't have enough psychological endurance, it is best not to watch it. Although there are no scenes of cannonballs flying and blood splashing in the film, the inhuman abuse suffered by the protagonist, rain and water, and raw maggots. The scenes of gnawing snakes and leeches sucking blood are all vividly displayed in front of you, and you can't bear to see them. It also makes people have to admire the huge sacrifices made by the actors for the performance. In the film, the hope of escaping appeared again and again, but the hope was shattered again and again, and he succumbed to the cruel reality, but in the end, the emperor paid off, and the protagonist escaped. When I saw the protagonist at the end surrounded by cheering crowds, I also had to be moved.
When something is empty, fill it. When something is full, empty it. When you have an itch, scratch it.
