Anomalisa means heavenly fairy in Japanese, the other who saves us from the homogenized hell.
In that homogenized hell, human beings are nothing more than remote-controlled dolls. Therefore, the use of puppets instead of real people to play the characters in the play is very logical.
The obvious seams on his face let Mike know that he was just a puppet, and there was a scene where part of his face fell off, and he took the dropped mouth in his hand, and the mouth was still chattering... he was horrified , I turned out to be a puppet...
