infatuated with non-love

After watching the film, I thought of an old-fashioned topic "What is love?". At first I thought that Barbara was in love with Herba, but then I found out that this is completely wrong. She can't talk about love for Herba at all, and the same is true for Herba, she's not in love with that boy either, their relationship should be just infatuation. Barbara is a person who lives completely in her own world, forbearance and loneliness to the extreme, infatuation with someone has probably become her way of life, the only joy in her life, and she is very good at it, if not after Herba leaves her How can you get out so quickly and go out to find a new target? What is love? I guess love should be giving. Just like Herba's previous life: selfless dedication to her husband and children, but she was tired of giving, so she fell in love with the pleasure that boy brought her, but how can a relationship like this last long without love? So make yourself more hurt. Fortunately, there is still love in her life. I believe that she loves her husband and her children, so she tries to avoid them from being hurt, and because of love, her husband will open the door for her in the end. And Barbara's misfortune is that she lives alone in her own world and can only be defeated again and again in one person's game.
So, never let your life lack love.

Notes on a Scandal quotes

  • [Barbara's first impressions of Sheba as she watches her in the playground]

Barbara Covett: [voiceover] Hard to read the wispy novice. Is she a sphinx or simply stupid? Artfully dishevelled today. The tweedy tramp coat is an abhorrence. It seems to say "I'm just like you." But clearly she's not. A fey person, I suspect.

  • [Barbara's opinion of her male pupils]

Barbara Covett: [to Sheba] Little towers of testosterone. You'll soon get used to them.
