Suppression does not mean the pain will go away

In August 2016, the American media "Indianapolis Star" published a series of investigative reports "Out of Balance", revealing how the USA Gymnastics turned a blind eye to sexual assault. Subsequently, hundreds of female victims came forward to accuse, and finally at the end of January 2018, Larry Nassar, the former team doctor of USA Gymnastics, was sentenced to 175 years in prison for sexually assaulting more than 150 female athletes in 20 years. This is real!

The film "Letterhead Story", which was released in the United States at the end of May 2018, is also based on the director's real experience. At the beginning, you will ask, does the 48-year-old heroine really have no memory of what happened at the age of 13? If the old mother hadn't flipped through her daughter's letter, wouldn't there have been nothing else? After a search, there is a psychological defense mechanism for trauma called "repression" in psychology. In layman's terms, it is a healing method for specific amnesia and selective amnesia. So don't doubt whether it is a fictional plot in a dog blood drama, the pain is real.

There is a dialogue between a 48-year-old heroine and a 13-year-old heroine in the middle of the movie. If you watch it, you will understand why a 13-year-old girl thinks that getting along with an adult man is love? ? ? The girl feels that her life should be controlled by herself, and what she needs is the approval and trust of others, not just preaching and accusing. And mental immaturity just gave criminals an opportunity! A dialogue between the heroine at the end of the movie directly answers the thoughts of the 13-year-old girl. She doesn't feel that she is a victim, she feels that a man loves her, and she gets what others can't... It's just that she doesn't know that life will continue without her man, just change to another heroine!

I can't help but ask, why does the girl's family seem to be absent? Obviously, her parents have both, and she has no worries about food and clothing. In the film, it was filmed twice. Several of her brothers and sisters were chasing and fighting, her mother and grandmother were yelling at the children, and her father was busy developing the land and had no time to say a few words to her daughter. The girl was in a sensitive adolescence, in this kind of family environment, and was imperceptibly pushed to the side of the devil. When the 48-year-old daughter and the old mother talked about it again, their dialogue could not help but make the audience feel a little absurd!

At the end, when the virgin protagonist confronted the criminal, there was no guilt or remorse on the man's face, but he was still proud and bright. Through the plot of the movie, it can be known that there are more than one or two girls who have been victimized. When will justice arrive? There is no answer at the end of the movie.

Remember the 2017 movie Carnival? similar themes. At that time, it also set off a small climax of public opinion.

In the South Korean short track speed skating scandal that was exposed in January 2019, the former coach was only sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for beating a player.

Whether it is news or film and television dramas, it seems to never stop. Media public opinion is just another wave after the wave of heat has receded. Did anything really change? system? law? Or moral level?

Some injuries may not go away completely and heal on their own. But let's hope justice doesn't come too late!
