At the beginning of the film I was really immersed in his presentation of the current state of my life, until his wife said that we are not poor. Yes, their family is upper middle class, their wives are easy to satisfy, and their sons are musically gifted. They are not poor. Suddenly a feeling overwhelmed me, I've spent so long in my heart to swell and tear myself apart, I just sit there and listen, let myself feel my life, the music is beautiful, these girls are beautiful, I can Can love them, but never have them. It's as if I could love the world but not have it. They only care about themselves, they don't remember. This sentence seems to be taking care of Brad's dinner. He was trying to express his heart, but the other party couldn't understand what he meant at all. He couldn't stand it and left. Troy's response to Brad asking his opinion was, I love you. I seem to be experiencing a midlife crisis a little early, and I haven't gotten over it yet. Today, I would like to say that it has passed. After thinking about my past life, I asked my classmates, I complimented you on your writing well before, but my score was higher, would you mind? ta said, what? ! I care more about myself. Care about what I've learned. Same thing? ? Combining this film, I have learned more. We will think that those "successful people" can always easily do many things that we "seem to be out of reach", probably because we put our own weight on their lives. Imagine (combined with some bright pictures and events) and substitute the life/expected life you imagined "after your own success" into it. It's like that sentence "I don't want to stay in this small place forever, I'll just sit on the stairs at the door, dreaming of staying in a five-star hotel, and they've never even stayed in a hotel!" to me.

About Ben, I recall his "Daydreamer", which is very similar to this film, but that one is worse. Both films gave me the feeling that a middle-aged man changed from a state of confusion to self-liberation/identity and decided to live a good life for a period of time.

Personally, I like these kinds of self-reported films. Some films are forced to be shot in this style, which is really uncomfortable.

Brad's Status quotes

  • Brad Sloan: [narrating] Her friend, Maya was equally captivating, equally compelling. I suddenly felt a deep grief... for all the women I would never love and all the lives I would never live. I imaging running away with them both and starting again and what that might look like.

  • Troy Sloan: When we were walking around today and you embarrassing me, I kept thinking, like, you know, if I go to this school, everybody here's gonna remember this and I'm never gonna live this down. But... you know, they're not gonna remember. Because, everybody's just thinking about themselves. You know? Nobody cares. Like, the only person that's thinking about you, is me, so... the only person's opinion that you should really care about is mine.

Brad Sloan: Yeah. What's your opinion?

Troy Sloan: Well, I love you.

    Brad Sloan: Thank you.
