To be or Not to be: Angel, Devil, Christ

Writing a review for this one is obviously easier than the first. If the key word for the young pope is loss, then the key word for the new pope is No. Lenny and John both have father issues. Lenny's problem is Loss: he was an orphan, and the hippie parents abandoned him to go to the Vatican, even though they loved him he. John's problem is No: he's an abandoned son, and his parents would rather stand by his twin brother's grave all day than look at him. So, Lenny's ultimate goal is to go back to the roots, while John's first goal is to seek recognition.

Angel, devil?

Who are the angels? Our Lenny looks the closest to an angel. Piety: all he cares about is church; Holy: resurrect the dying; Wisdom: Lenny is the only one who can play Voiello. And, of course, handsome, as Voiello compliments: Holy father, you are as handsome as Jesus.

So how did our Lenny answer?

Throughout the Old and New Testaments, there is only one person who would say he is more handsome than Christ the Son: the Archangel Lucifer.

Lucifer

The Archangel Lucifer was righteous and perfect, because he could not be on an equal footing with the Son, and he led a third of the angels to fall in anger. Since then it has a new name: Satan. Lenny said to Tommaso: I don't believe God can save me from myself. The metaphor is obvious: Lenny is so confident that he doesn't believe in God.

Lenny is a fundamentalist through and through. He was against abortion and against homosexuality. These headstrong actions resulted in a series of tragedies: innocent boys committed suicide, friends were left in the wilderness.

Christ

To be continued, the following is written yesterday:

first episode, second episode

It doesn't matter if Francis II is like a joke, or the duke's mansion is like a cemetery. The first two episodes were nothing more than set pieces. The only important information is that the Vatican wants to copy the myth of Lenny and interpret it as the middle way. So, the English nobleman John became the best candidate for this middle way.

Episode 3, Episode 4, Episode 5

So, does John Sir fit the bill? It looks like it is. Please see his speech to the archbishops, which is the embodiment of the middle way:

How are we to love? With tenderness, without passion. Christian humility is frugal. love is an abstraction like intelligence. Our judgement is beclouded by the ardent passion that consume us. We give love a dangerous concreteness, which calls pains for ourselves and for others. Replace that concrete love with tenderness. avoid passion

Beautiful Words. But at least for me, it's putting the cart before the horse: twisting ends into means. Tenderness, or the middle way, should be the end of the wise, and the inevitable result of rational perspective: "Everything will dissolve under the eyes of perspective: passion, unremitting persistence, fanaticism, all are the result of simple-minded people. Characterized by their consistent loyalty to others and to themselves." Not principle. It should not be a rule of thumb. Any discipline is the starting point for the aging of spiritual life.

Beneath the fancy clothes of the old nobleman John is a fragile heart. John believed in poetry, but that didn't mean he didn't know the dirty powers. To this end, John appointed an undisguised bishop as his assistant. Holy spirit in the bishop's mouth was nothing more than a perfume of spirit: perfume was born, always to cover up the stench, but it could not change any essence. Poor John, really hasn't grown up yet. He wants to please everyone, to cover up the lack of self (I've missed myself) This season has emphasized family many times, probably because: children can fill that void.

And John himself, of course, is beautiful. In my opinion, this kind of beauty comes from fragile. Kindness is appearance, and fragile is reliable. John's weakness is his strength. He understands, he doesn't act, he admits and accepts, everything. And if you were reading, my dear, my friend, you may understand why I treat your confession, your doubt towards your soul, as treasure, as gift.

a little joke

A noble lady visits John. Questioning the church's opposition to same-sex marriage: can the bible be upgraded? John replied: no. bible is not an iphone. But in fact, John himself was upgraded like this: a door opened to all possible love.

Easter's life is in dire straits, and after Peter's departure, a watch repairer has become a new possibility. But hopes were soon dashed. She hoped that he was an angel, but it turned out that he was a viper, and he brought her a new sin: selling his body. The subject is the wealthy Quasimodo. 15,000 euros once. When easter fell in love with Quasimodo, even if he didn't charge a penny, he was willing to continue to see him, but Quasimodo's mother stopped her immediately: sex lives and dies at present, but love looks into future. Because the mother does not want anyone else to love her son but herself. Easter suddenly wanted to strangle Quasimodo's mother like a charm, and only praying to Lenny could stop her. So, what if Lenny's gone? I mean, what about when she can't see him again?

Episodes 6 to 9

Soon, this scene happened.

Lenny woke up, but the people kneeling in the square thought he was dead, because Easter said: They killed him, I can feel it. It reminded me of the phrase I saw in the Philadelphia Museum: Blessed are the pure in heart , for they shall see God.

He's not dead, it's just that she can no longer feel him. When Easter lost bless, priest and children were kidnapped, the whole world thought it was Muslims. But in fact, it is Lenny's most loyal supporter, including Easter.

It took me three hours to watch the episodes without much thought. What impressed me were the first two sentences of Lenny's final speech:

Our mouth is filled with the word “love”, but I, before anyone else, don't know how to define it.

Our mouth is filled with the word “beauty”, but I, before anyone else, don't know how to receive it.

Of course, it is touching. Because they are my words.

John was finally happy, as a human being.

Lenny is finally back in heaven, as a god.

Where is the middle way, where is the way, for me?
