perfect sense of proportion

The story is very complicated, and there are quite a few characters. Generally, it is difficult to make a movie involving politics (as to how difficult it is to make a movie, you can see the Tokyo Trial,,,),
but the director told the story all the way,,,
simple and easy to make. It is easy to

encounter war scenes without rendering, and emotional scenes without tearjerkers
and slow motion (ah, ah, ah, ah, long live communism!!!)
Even the hero himself is a real hero.
(I saw someone arguing whether the old aunt who looks like a heroic aunt is really a heroic aunt, or is actually a conservative reactionary,,,)

My biggest feeling in the

whole movie,,, the director seems to be non-existent,

you don’t know What he approves of, don't know what he's denying, do
n't know what he's setting up, don't know where the climax is
Reluctantly found a protagonist, only to find that most of the story has little to do with him
You think the story is just moving forward

but wait The movie is over,,, you find that everything a good movie should have already has.
In fact, the director has always

admired it,,,

so even though it is a movie, I still leave a fortune,,,

There are always works like this, which can give you a glimpse of all human nature in two hours, including adherence to blood ideals, struggle, appeasement, weakness, surrender, spontaneous will, forced fear, absolute freedom or compromise. The past tense and the present tense of oneself, the self and others who made the same choice. The nails that are pulled out will always grow back, so I won't be afraid of this kind of pain in the future, but I'm also unwilling to endure it again. Understand the director's sentence it's universal. 丨 Don't stop. do not stop. do not stop.

In the face of war, no matter your position is left or right, you will become a martyr in the struggle for rights, wrapped in the cloak of freedom and democracy, and seemingly careless laying out, but revealing a deep introspection of human nature. I don't want to see you again" brings this emotion to a climax. The ending of the movie is indeed a lot grayer than Ken Loach's recent work, but it is also necessary. The evil of war will be read in the sentence of death.

The Wind that Shakes the Barley quotes

  • Damien: [loading revolver] I studied anatomy for five years, Dan. And now i'm going to shoot this man in the head. I've known Chris Reilly since he was a child. I hope this Ireland we're fighting for is worth it.

  • Chris: Promise me, Damien. Promise me you won't bury me next to him?

    [points to Sir John]

Damien: The chapel. Do you remember, on the way up? Do you remember?

    Chris: Yeah.

    Damien: In there.

Chris: Tell Teddy I'm sorry. I'm scared, Damien.

Damien: [sighs] Have you said your prayers?

    Chris: Yeah.

    Damien: God protect you.
