If there is no destination and full of variables in the trip, if you fall in love with a scenery, a city during the journey, you will not hesitate to backpack or look back before it is too late. After Selma and Louis killed the man in the bar, they did not look back and continued to "travel", looting the store, threatening the police, Louis' sunglasses and the sun from the southern United States pouring down the road to Mexico. Sometimes change is not a difficult decision. When life does not proceed as you hoped, the escape you are preparing for is not an avoidance. When the Selma "gentleman" robbed the store and Louis sang wildly on the highway, there was no way out of their lives. Moving forward was the meaning of happiness for them. During the journey, Selma finally understood that a loveless life day after day is a poison that is harder to swallow than pale. She can bear flirting with other men and be deceived, but she cannot accept the compromise of life because of the retrogressive growth rings. Far more cruel than death. And Louis, when her boyfriend finally proposed to her, she calmly said: it is a bad time. Love is always lost between the fingers when we get along, and it's only wonderful after being separated. Finally, when the green Thunderbird car rushed to the cliff and merged with the sun into a soft light circle, behind it was the figure of the police officer desperately chasing it. Only he understands these two desperate women, not for survival or pursuit of fame and fortune, only for life, only for the blooming of this life. Thinking of Tess in Hardy's works, he said that the nobility of the soul does not lie in what you have experienced, but in your style and attitude. Louis said that in the future we can live in a manor and open a ranch, Selma agreed with a smile. This kind of life is too beautiful and spotless. We don't want to break even if it is too unreal. The white rose is innocent and elegant, but after infecting the blood, it has a fascinating charm. Bloodthirsty is not their essence, but the only reason for them to bloom. When they clasped their hands and drove toward the poignant valley, time was frozen, just for the beautiful roses to bloom again. The unexpected ending, but also left us a sad memory. The two extraordinary women, Selma and Louise, ended their lives in the most violent form, leaving us with infinite reveries. I have never found out that a woman can interpret "handsome" and "beautiful" so perfectly, but behind this perfection is a bloody accusation. An easy trip turns into a desperate escape, but the reason is the man's fault. Obviously, this is a film that discusses the issue of "feminism". Selma and Louise are burdened with the dual tasks of struggle and redemption. Selma is beautiful and sexy, but unfortunately has a very powerful husband. Her life is unremarkable, and she herself does not get the respect of her husband. It can be said that she has been living in a depressive and free-spirited environment. What she has to endure is not only the endless housework, but also acts as a gas barrel for her husband. But she doesn't need the compassion of the world, because in the face of power (husband's power) she will fight hard, she knows where to fall, where to get up again. Then we can clearly feel that this escape experience was the happiest period in her life, because she showed us the most charming smile. Relatively speaking, Louise is much tougher. Not only is she burdened with an unbearable past, but she is also a warrior who wields a sharp blade to the power. She has a masculine spirit because she knows that a woman's weakness is a flaw. She must abandon worldly compassion and use her strength to resist all suffering. However, under the strong appearance, what is hidden is a weak heart after all.
"The End of the Wild Flower" very cleverly borrowed from "road movies" and "brother movies". These two types of movies used to have men as the absolute protagonists. Even if there are female characters, they can only be reduced to "vase". The subversion of "The End of the Wild Flower" is itself a struggle against male chauvinism. When we marvel at the sassy and heroic looks of Selma and Louise, it is undoubtedly an affirmation of "women do not let their beards". It can be said that "The End of the Carnival" has fought a beautiful turnaround on the subject matter, and thus forged a classic that cannot be copied. Some people classify "The End of the Wild Flower" into a queer movie, that is, a gay movie. Of course, the sympathy between Selma and Louise is more or less homosexual. However, compared to other gay movies, this movie is much cleaner. The issues of "feminism" and "homosexuality" have always existed in American society. They have made countless struggles for this, and movies with corresponding themes have emerged in endlessly. They seem to be an indispensable part of film history. However, the two are equally embarrassing. Movies with themes are hard to get mainstream recognition.
"The End of the Wild Flower" is a good attempt. It succeeded in some aspects, but it was also a little regrettable. Like the corresponding theme film, it chose death to make the final struggle. This is poignant, but it also weakens the strength of the struggle. You may get some compassion, but it's hard to see respect. The road is still long, and don't forget the thorns ahead. The rose has also withered, but the scent of lingering fragrance cannot be dissipated. If life gives us the opportunity to constantly rewrite, do you want to take a trip as you please, ignore the turmoil of life, and be brave enough to be yourself, even if only once is enough.
