Is Art Marketing or Joke?

Having seen some of Banksy's works, my curiosity drove me to watch this documentary. The first feeling after watching it was: what exactly is art? If random graffiti and random collocation give people a visual impact, it is art, then if the works without connotation and style are boasted and marketed, are the evaluations too good?

Many artists spend years improving their painting skills and finding their style, Thierry seems to have crossed those stages, I mean, there is no one like Thierry, even if his work is not that different from anyone else's.

I actually quite agree with Bansky's words. For mass art, we should still choose to actively encourage creation and imagination; but for the artist's requirements, works should not only be creations, but should stand up to scrutiny and reflection. If we recognize Thierry as an artist today, where does that put art?

Perhaps out of jokes and coincidences, Thierry became famous for an exhibition. In addition to documentaries, the length of his subsequent art life cycle may bring us more reflections on the importance of art and business, and the relationship between fame and fortune and greatness.
