forgive yourself

The first time I saw this movie, I couldn't accept that it wasn't that I couldn't accept the story but that the ending was pointless, that it couldn't be an end, and I couldn't see a new beginning. Years later, when I looked back at the film, I realized that this film did not deliberately create some irreconcilable contradictions and conflicts. In fact, people need to forgive themselves and be tolerant of themselves, then many problems can be solved easily. We can't expect a world full of love and tolerance, this world may or may not exist, only few things can talk about eternity, young friends can be attached to everything in their hearts, but they can't get lost in finding out for a clear reason.

Hallam Foe quotes

  • Raymond: I fucking hate this job, but it's my job. D'ya understand?

    Hallam Foe: [nods]

Raymond: I killed a man once. Smashed his skull on a pier. Just so ya know.

  • Kate Breck: I'm a real live human being Hallam. Sometimes I want sweet; sometimes I want sour. Sometimes I don't know what I want. My shit stinks. I'm going to die someday. If I look like your mother, it's just a coincidence. Am I telling you anything you don't already know?

Hallam Foe: Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?

Kate Breck: [pensively and with regret] Probably not.
