"Deeper Than the Sea" is a work I like more than "The Thief Family". I found the shadows of many familiar people in it.
1. Shuzi

I wonder if every old man is like Grandma Shuzi, who is most afraid of loneliness and likes to be stubborn, just to let their children worry less and live a good life.
2. Ryota
Ryota has many identities: son, husband, father, novelist, private detective... But it seems that he does not play well in any of them. Searching for cash at my mother's house, unable to pay alimony to my wife, trying to buy a pair of shoes for my son has to use a little trick, not to mention being a novelist and being a detective. , he is a failure, and he is indeed the kind of person who will be said by high school students as "the last thing I want to be". But oddly enough, I can't hate this character, I think he's the one that best fits each of us.
Even if they were not destitute, their disappointment was surprisingly similar. The kind of embarrassment that has been beaten down again and again by life, in my opinion, has a kind of close truth; and even if he is unknown, he still insists on the dream of writing novels, which not only looks humble, but also makes his whole body shine. I can't predict whether his perseverance will come to fruition. Maybe it's like winning the lottery. It is possible for people to achieve success and happiness. Not everyone can become a hero. It was a painful time for all living beings, but even at the age of fifty, this man still said to his son: "It doesn't matter if you become the person you want to be. Talking about being a "hero", his wife and boyfriend are a hundred times more handsome. After all, those who want to achieve their dreams are brave. Regardless of the outcome.
In Hirokazu Kore-eda's works, most of them are also such characters. They don't have any big skills and always have some small problems, but their efforts under the pressure of life are very charming, thinking "Where did my life start to go wrong?" I will still tell myself the next day, "The good and the bad are my life." So, isn't life just looking for pearls in the trivial gravel?
3. True Enlightenment, Fighting
The sensitive and precocious Zhenwu and the kind and loyal Jiandou, the same family background, the same growth experience, the same life goal of "wanting to become a civil servant"... The current Zhenwu is like the former Jiandou; the current Jiandou, will it be possible? Is it true enlightenment in the future? Still a mystery like an undrawn lottery ticket. But I cannot admit that Kento, who did not become a civil servant, was a loser. As Ryota said in the film: "If you think you can easily become what you want, you are wrong." And his expectations for his son are also just hope that he can love something. "Becoming the ideal self" seems simple, but it is full of unknown and uncontrollable. We may lose more in this process than we gain. Therefore, is it a choice to follow our heart and stay kind? It's like Jiandou who grabbed a lot of marbles and put them into the basket of his predecessors, talking about the shoes his father bought for him, and he kept them for a long time. He made me think: "It's good to be such a person!"
Fourth, the lines
Most people always like to find various reasons for mistakes, because it is much easier than covering them all. But life is not the easier it is.
If you can, it is best to win the whole game; if you don't have this kind of luck, you can get what you want the most; if you can't get it, it's better to change it; if you get it and lose it, let it go. Many things, even if they are not perfect, have their joys.
The sea is originally deep, the sky is originally blue, and life is originally simple, but people love to complicate it with obsessions. It's like the process of chasing happiness, getting more and more attached to happiness itself, but forgetting to feel the process.
Just go with the flow. It is great wisdom not to be happy with things and not to be sad about oneself. That way, when I recall the past at a certain time, even if I don't love anyone "deeper than the sea", I still feel that happiness is in my hands.
