about women

The film focuses on the stories of four Chinese mothers and daughters in the 1950s, with English dialogue and a Hollywood perspective. I saw some short reviews, some good and some bad, with different positions and different angles. Although it tells the story of immigrant Chinese, the past of the four mothers is indeed rooted in the Republic of China period when the feudal ethics and the enlightened West were blended at that time. The tragic and unfortunate experiences of the four mothers are deeply imprinted in their characters, and have also affected the thinking, behavior, character and marriage of their daughters. To be honest, the whole film is a little depressing, and it comes slowly, but it has many moments of heartbreak. The misery and misfortune of women in the Republic of China period in the last century is still bloody displayed in front of my eyes. I don’t think it is extreme. is true. (Although the story of the mother of a little girl in the middle is somewhat unconvincing, it is still a good thing.) Their pain continues on their daughter, a scar that will never heal. But on the other hand, although their mothers suffered injustice, they resisted in their own ways and never gave in. This was also their mother's expectation and hope for their daughters. Confrontation, but also finally opened up. On the other hand, it also reflects the Chinese-style parent-child relationship, but with a Hollywood-style interpretation and reconciliation. So despite the pain, she never gave in and gave up, never gave up her thinking and independence as a woman, and despite the difficulties, there is still hope. There are a lot of things I want to tell, but it may not be finished, but this does not prevent it from being a movie worth thinking about. It tells about the plight and confrontation of Asian women in that era, the thinking about the relationship between mother and daughter, and all kinds of things.

It is rare that a film that explores the conscious and mother-daughter relationship of women in the Chinese world, especially the proposition of mother-daughter relationship, has been missing from Chinese-language films for a long time. There are many flaws in the film, such as the Mandarin of the young Chinese actors, which is very creepy, but it is definitely worth watching. It is especially suitable for mother and daughter to watch together. After watching, hug and cry, it has a healing effect. #Yu Feihong was not as good-looking as a child#

Losing him does not matter. It is you who will be found and cherished. PS: For two days, I watched the same actor play the same kind of boy/man. (I watched it once at home when I was a child, my grandma said it was a good movie)

The Joy Luck Club quotes

  • June's Father: She thought: better not die next to my babies. Nobody saves babies with such bad luck. Who wants two babies with ghost mother following them? Very bad luck, very.

  • Jing-Mei 'June' Woo: [opening naration] The old woman remembered a swan she had bought many years ago in Shanghai for a foolish sum. "This bird", boasted the market vendor, "was once a duck that stretched its neck in hopes of becoming a goose. And now look, it is too beautiful to eat!" Then the woman and the swan sailed across an ocean many thousands of lei wide, stretching their necks toward America. On her journey, she cooed to the swan, "In America, I will have a daughter just like me. But over there, nobody will say her worth is measured by the loudness of her husbands belch. Over there, nobody will look down on her because I will make her speak only perfect American English. And over there, she will always be too full to swallow any sorrow. She will know my meaning because I will give her this swan, a creature that became more than what was hoped for." But when she arrived in the new country the immigration officials pulled the swan away from her, leaving the woman fluttering her arms and with only one swan feather for a memory. For a long time now, the women had wanted to give her daughter the single swan feather and tell her; "This feather may look worthless, but it comes from afar and carries with it all my good intentions."
