Talk to the soul

I finally finished watching "Capote" today. I watched it intermittently while doing yoga. I always felt that this kind of attitude towards the movie was really disrespectful to the movie and its creative group. The
movie "Capote" is nothing shocking to the world. The work, from the perspective of personal biography, is quite new. The film does not follow the general narrative pattern of youth-middle-aged-old age, but only selects one thing, which allows us to understand Capote to varying degrees. Maybe Capote has too much influence in the West, especially in the American literary world, and the director just chose a small perspective, which is enough; but in a relatively unfamiliar China, I believe that many people still think about a deceased person after reading it. Capote was bewildered. Including me. . . So guilty when I found out that Breakfast at Tiffany's was Capote's work!
But I still have shameless self-confidence in my literary quality, so I made two decisions: one is to read the book in cold blood and improve my English reading level by the way; the other is to write this nonsense after watching.
Throughout the whole film, what made me think the most is the old topic - human nature! This is also an eternal theme that Western films, commercial or not, like to expound. Was the murderer cold-blooded? Until the moment before the execution, he still did not accept Capote's advice and expressed his repentance! But as a viewer, I, like Capote, hate it. Some people may say that the reason why the murderer is cold-blooded is the fault of society and the fault of capitalism! I'm sorry, I'm not a remnant of the Cultural Revolution, I just want to say, in fact, no matter which society or era, everyone has that dark corner in their hearts, perhaps the shadow of childhood, but not many people know it. do i have it? I admit I have. In fact, I have never been a flower in the greenhouse, growing up safely under the wings of my parents. But in that vague memory, there are still some gray or even black images, but I have always kept it tightly in a certain corner of my heart. I believe this is what many people do. Generally speaking, few people are willing to face it face to face, or even admit it, unless it is those who have distorted personality, and most of them are forced to disclose it to others, but it often ends up as a good textbook for psychiatry.
Few people are willing to be naked in front of the world, whether physically or mentally.
Capote in the movie, for the sake of the book, was forced to have a relationship with a cold-blooded murderer, only to find out that the two have so many things in common, and they collided so brilliantly. So that in the end, cited as a confidant. Irony? One is a high-level intellectual living in the upper class, and the other is a murderer living in a remote town. . . It's just that one gets the blessing of God and comes out from the front door to meet the sun; while the other can only choose to go out from the back door. What if people turned out the darkest things in their hearts? There is an old saying: one confidant in life is enough! Just ask: where is your confidant? How much can you pay for a confidant? In this materialistic society, is confidant important? Does human nature matter? It all seems insignificant! Is this the tragedy of society, or yours and mine? If we go deeper, maybe you and I will both collapse like Capote and the murderer, but in different ways. One goes to the gallows and the other dies of alcoholism. Sometimes I think that people really shouldn’t be too obsessed with spiritual exploration and pursuit. It’s a struggle between reality and ideals, and the result has already been predicted. It’s better to keep it in a certain corner of the mind and let it continue. dusty. . .
I vaguely remembered a friend's complaint a few days ago, he said that he had become worse and worse, more and more in line with some social vices that he was not ashamed of before. . . I wanted to tell him at the time that now that you've chosen the Faustian Contract, don't bother talking to the soul anymore. But I don't have the courage to say it, because I also get knots from time to time. . . To this day, I would tell him, go see Capote!

I actually think Hoffman's performance is a bit too hard.

Capote quotes

  • Truman Capote: It's as if Perry and I grew up in the same house. And one day he stood up and went out the back door, while I went out the front.

  • Perry Smith: I thought that Mr. Clutter was a very nice gentleman. I thought so right up to the moment that I cut his throat.
