"Graduation Exam" is a very real movie, very plain, but it reveals deep helplessness. The male protagonist Romeo is the backbone of the family. He and his wife Magda have been married for many years and raise their daughter Eliza together. The seemingly peaceful middle-class family has long been riddled with internal problems: the husband and wife have long lost their enthusiasm for marriage and have no hope for society. Romeo hopes that his daughter can study in the UK and get rid of the bitter sea, but unexpectedly encounters an attack. The film revolves around "honesty". Romeo emphasized to his daughter to be honest from an early age, but he destroyed his own educational principles. He has always been "atonement" for the attack caused by the early release of his daughter from the car in order to see his lover sooner. In order to ensure that she passed the exam smoothly, he did not hesitate to mobilize all his social relations, including police officers, principals, prosecutors, etc. It was something he had been avoiding and disdain, but it was the only way to help his daughter get out of here. Is there anything crueler than this? The funny thing is that Romeo is honest, doesn't care about making friends with the powerful, but has a secret lover, and he keeps stressing that he never cheated on her. He thinks this is a kind of honesty and magnanimity, but he can't escape his hypocrisy. The frequent smashing of glass in Romeo's house has also become a mystery. It's more like a cold arrow, shooting at Romeo's hidden hypocrisy. Eliza's smile at the end of the film when she takes her graduation photo also makes you sad. I don't know if she will be like her father, just wanting to escape after many years.
