I watch movies every day no matter how busy I am. As far as the world film map is concerned, no matter in terms of quantity or quality, European films are the highest, with English, German and Italian meaning the iron triangle, with Northern Europe, Central and Eastern Europe and Southern Europe. On the contrary, after the New Wave, the general quality of films in France has weakened, but French films are still the most watched. The high annual output of French films, namely literary films, reflects the quality of other European films. The films of these countries are basically difficult to catch all at once, and there will always be fish that slip through the net.
Of course, I will not forget Russia. In recent years, Russian films are still the leading role of several big directors and singers, but there are not many. On the contrary, in recent years, the films of the three Baltic countries have sprung up. The films of Turkey, Iraq, and Israel in the Middle East Iron Triangle are generally better, and I like the films of Turkish director Nuri Big Ceylan. Of course, if you only care about those famous director movies, you will be blindsided. More often, some are not well-known, but the movie works are awesome. Due to historical relations, the second generation of Turkish filmmakers who immigrated to Germany have returned to the country one after another. The films of these directors who have crossed the border between Turkey and Germany are good, such as "Bringing the Blame". The good movies of Egypt, a powerhouse in the Middle East, can be described as lackluster.
American movies don't want to talk about it, because too many people talk about it. In fact, the light of many independent directors has been obscured by Hollywood. Even Hollywood has some movies that aren't hyped, which aren't bad. Canada shoots films in both English and French. Quebec's French films are unique and have their own characteristics. Brazil, Afghanistan and Chile form the iron triangle of Central and South America. Cuba, Colombia, Bolivia and Peru have excellent films from time to time, and even Jamaica and Costa Rica and other countries also occasionally have films.
Africa is mainly descendants of immigrants from South Africa, France, Germany and Britain. In the four North African countries except Egypt, as well as several countries in East and West Africa, there are still very few works published. In addition to the Turkey and Iraq mentioned in Asia, Indian Bollywood is still dominated by song films, and there have been changes in recent years. There are fresh products in Southeast Asian countries, but Thailand is still the main one. This is just a small iron triangle formed by Thailand, Vietnam and Philippines. Not to mention China in the East Asian Iron Triangle, Korean movies in recent years are indeed much less than the excellent works of ten years ago, but Korean movies have a periodic outbreak.
Looking at the world's film industry, Japan has the most stable quality. Most of the films I have watched will not disappoint me (and of course I have chosen), and its quiet artistic endurance makes me often sigh. In addition to commercial films, more directors still love to focus on author films, and are not moved by the so-called commercial tide at all. If you just count your fingers, there are at least fifty directors who are happy to make the movies they want to make. As far as I can see, the annual output is not less than a hundred or more.
After going deeper, the calmness and stability of a country's films can only indicate the quietness of the country's overall heart (except for a few extreme right-wingers), which is also a reflection of Japan's excellence as a country of craftsmen. From a global point of view, we cannot underestimate it, but we also focus on it. The most important thing is to watch it quietly, without making noise. Because I like it and watch a lot, there will always be new surprises and new insights, which are often accumulated in my heart, which naturally constitutes my own movie viewing avenue.
