I have seen a lot of people compare the two mainstays of the bad film industry, domestic and international.
Unfortunately, "Chasing Dream" will never become the "Room" in the history of Chinese film.
I think the essential difference between the two movies, or "The Room" and most bad movies, is that the badness of "Room" is exhausted and unable to do so, and finally the form of the movie is larger than the content of the movie-it was originally one. The level of Youtube's funny videos must participate in the Oscars. And when the form is greater than the content, the sense of humor and joy is reflected (which is why we think the bragger is funny).
Of course, humor and joy are not enough, "The Room" is still "tragic". This tragedy is reflected in the huge contrast between the little people and Hollywood, in the strong contrast between ideals and reality, and in the divergence between efforts and results. This "tragic" emotion is something we ordinary people can experience every moment and every day. So in "The Room", this kind of "tragic" emotion is particularly cordial.
"Room" combines these two emotions together. It is a bragging person whose form is greater than content. It makes you feel funny, but when your contempt has not yet begun, it allows you to see the tragic and vigorous life, the tragedy and vigor that you will experience every day. So you put away the mocking smile, the contemptuous smile, and the understanding and praise smile. "Room" has become a classic in the bad film industry. In this sense, "The Room" is the Don Quixote of the bad film world.
"Chasing Dreams" and a series of other bad films have achieved the first point. They are bragging, hilarious, and overwhelming. But without the second point, they are not "tragic" enough, there is no contrast, both in and out of the play are all powerful faces. They have nothing to pursue, and naturally they have not lost. They enjoy the pursuit and block all bad reviews. So the feeling of joy and belly-up slipped deeper, bringing in infamy and maliciousness from the audience.
In the rest of our lives, if we can see Director Bi, Director Guo, Director Wang, and Director Guo who talk about cross talk sit down, and calmly talk about why we have to make these bad movies, what are their unspeakable concealment and weaknesses, and talk about their own past. The ideal, and the current situation, let’s talk about how they think of their infamy. Then we will also have our "Room", and judging from the lineup, our "Room" will definitely be more evil, darker and more CULT than this "Room".
